Which ones? I *think* that I've posted the stats if not here (or to the FB4
site) then at least to the playtest list, but I'm not sure...

Anyway. The background blurbs are still vague for most of the new Kra'Vak
ships (a few snippets are included below). Generally speaking these ships
start making an appearence from 2190 onwards, though human military
intelligence analysts are deeply divided regarding whether these ships are new
designs created in response to experience with fighting humans or represent
the arrival at the front of Kra'Vak clans from regions of the Dominion further
away from Hu'Man space than those encountered during the first years of the
war. The stats and names I use for them are:

*******
FT423 NEW Kra'Vak Heavy Striker
> KV name unknown<<<<
(Yes, I know that this is very similar to "Keg" (FT403 Ka'Tak striker). One
reason for this is that there aren't too many single-syllable English
words beginning with "K", the other is that the two ships are very similar
stats-wise :-/ )

Stats: TMF 24 NPV 96 MD6A FTL Hull Integrity 7 (Average) Armour 0 1x FCS

FT 425 To'Ki (Seeker Spear) Destroyer First encountered: June 2190. (Probably
encountered by human ships
earlier, but if so those human ships didn't survive to tell the tale -
more on this below.) UNDIA reporting name "Kick"

Excerpt from UNDIA military report circulated to UNSC and allied units,
December 2191:

"...The first human ship to report an encounter with Kick-class vessels
was the OUPS Blackwood, which narrowly escaped after surviving damage which
would have wrecked most human light cruisers. It is believed that similar
earlier encounters with patrolling Kicks explain many of the human escorts
that were lost without trace during attempted raids on Kra'Vak supply lines in
the months after the Kra'Vak rebuff at Centauris, since the tactics that have
made human escorts so effective against the smaller Keg, Kedge and Kite
strikeboat classes often fail disastrously against Kicks...."

Note: The first reported encounter with a "Kanaka" class heavy battleship
occurred during the Mars raid in July 2192. While the UNDIA reporting name for
this class is politically sensitive in some circles, it was chosen in
honour of the Hawai'ian-descended crew of the UNS Kalihiwai who
sacrificed
themselves in order to draw the fire of the Kanaka-class ship leading
the attack away from civilian orbital facilities.

well, in that case you may consider also that they could be named in another
language:) If a FSE ship encounters a new Kra Vak type you may consider using
Képi (military hat) Kaki (brownish color) or my favourite: Kir (a little
aperitif of white wine and blackcurrant cream, very probable name for a
teasing FSE officer:D) If it's scan fed first encounter you can probably pick
up a "snygg svensk "K" ord;) "

Dealing with some new russian names for Jon, i'll probably be playing FT this
afternoon at my club with some a russian friend, I'll have to ask!

If someone has a Scrabble(tm) dictionary, this might (seriously!) be exactly
the resource needed!

It's got piles of words arranged by length (and by first letter,
obviously) so you can find all sorts of one- or two-syllable "K" words.
All English, of course, but English has Borg'd so many foreign words you
should be OK!

Of course, I know Scrabble exists in other languages; Scrabble dictionaries
might too! Anyone know?

I already have. "Kayak", "Karate", "Kanaka" and "Koorbash" are all
non-English words originally (although English has subsequently borrowed

them, just like it has borrowed khaki and kepi) :-/

> If a FSE ship encounters a new Kra Vak type you may

UNDIA reporting names for escort-class vessels are *single*-syllable.
"Khaki" and "kepi" are both two-syllable, and therefore cruisers.

Alan Brain suggested:

> Kat, Kedge, Keg, Ken, Kid, Kiff, Kick, Kill, Kim, Kin, Kip, Kir (good

Of these Kedge, Keg, Kick, Kin, and Kip are already used, along with Kite,
Kerf and Kart. Kit/Kid and Kim/Kin are pronouciation-pairs similar to
the
Keg/Kedge one, so should be used very carefully; similarly Kat and Kate
are both quite similar in pronounciation to Kite at least for some English
dialects (not to mention English pronounced by certain foreigners, eg. FSE
officers ;-) ).

The original source is IIRC a dictionary - not the list of NATO
codenames for enemy equipment... though due to the relative lack of English
words
beginning with "k", the NATO and UNDIA lists overlap :-/

> What are the reporting name conventions for things Kra'Vak besides

Not known at this time, sorry. Ask again when Bugs Don't Surf is
published :-)

> AS-1 "Kennel" (KS-1 Kometa)

Not used, but "Kip" is the Ra'San "standard" fighter.

> AS-3 "Kangaroo" (H-20)

The "Kangaroo" is a big planetary assault vessel (combined troop
transport/planetary bombardment ship, but decidedly light on
anti-starship
armament).

> AS-4 "Kitchen" (H-22 Burya)

"Kyle" isn't used by the UNDIA, but "Kylie" is the Ko'Tek-class strike
cruiser (FT407A).

> AS-10 "Karen" (H-25)

The "Kedge" is a "heavy striker" - TMF 24 starship packed with MKPs; GZG

product code FT423.

> AS-15 "Kent" (H-55/H-65S Izdeliye)

"Kickback" is the reporting name for the Yu'Kas-class superdreadnought
(FT412)

> AS-17 "Krypton" (H-31)

Not used, but "Kryptonite" is another SDN class.

> AS-18 "Kazoo" (H-59M Ovod-M)

"Kayak" is MKP-armed heavy attack cruiser (FT428).
