In spite of calling dead horse beating, I read a rather predictable post, and
found: 3. We suppose we could compromise on the national symbol, combining the
British lion and the American eagle to a new symbol, the griffon.
Actually, I rather like it, though I'd prefer y draig goch.
Before he was a king, he was a prince.

And what a court that would be!
Actually, y draig goch means the red dragon, a symbol of Wales, and before a
King of England, a Prince of Wales(normally).
However, I've thought even more, and if the NAC fleet personnel is not
entirely homogeneous, the griffon would make a good symbol for combined
Brit/repatriated-formerly-rebellious-colonial units.
Can someone refresh my memory as to what part/house of England is/was
represented by the griffon?

As an American I think this is a great idea; the proud, bold head and eye of
the Bald Eagle - symbol of the mightiest nation on earth (USA) and the
ass (read: arse) of a Lion! Sharp nasty beak and a giant tadger to boot. Plus,
I like the swishy tail.
