This is certainly true. I think the manouverability counts for more than speed (they're obviously related of course). The trick is usually to stay in the big ship's rear arc if at all possible. @:) Speed is also the best defense against missiles True and don't forget fighters. A fighter capable of moving 12" is going to have a pretty hard time catching up with a ship moving at 36", which is not a completely unusual speed for one of the people I play with to use. If fighters and missiles are not involved, though, speed starts to matter quite a lot less because of the typically large firing arcs possible on FT ships.
