Is an MLP the same as a SLAM? Also, a size 2 walker? I have only the basic
DSII, which discusses only Class 1 infantry walkers and class 4/5 Combat
Walkers - is the Class 2 a "ouse rule"

Similar technology, but the MLP is an infantry weapon from SG2. Usually
mounted on the shoulders of power armour.

There's nothing in the rules actually forbidding walkers of other sizes and I
think that Jon or Mike has said on this list that size 2 or 3 walkers are
perfectly legal.

Yup--I've got some Stone Mountain walkers that look like Size 2 to me,
especially given their weapons loadout seems to be either 2 GMSs or 1 GMS and
one gun of some kind. I still havn't figured out where they would fit in a
TO&E. The only size 1 walkers I could fit were in the Heavy Weapons units of a
Drop Infantry regiment.
