All this recent talk of troops in berets and stuff reminds me (very indirectly) of a good autobiography by a para Lt. working in Northern Ireland in the 70s. An interesting read since he recounts patrols in urban areas, acting as snatch squads during riots, patrols in rural ares and a covert OP or two. The book is "Contact" and the Author is A.F.N. Clarke. An oldie but well worth seeking out. Unfortunately I can't remember the publisher (possibly corgi?) and my copy is back in Blighty so there is no chance of me checking the isbn either.
