Subject: Map Making Software Distribution
Several Eons ago there was interest in map making software for PBEM's I have completed a distribution of Alun Thomas ftmap - map making software for FT PBEM and other types of FT games. The Distribution is for unix systems with a C compiler - GNU gcc is supported directly as is HP-UX my native platform, otherwise you will have to modify the Makefile. If someone wants to modify this for Win32/DOS or the Mac thay can have it but you're on your own. I'm working on a Win32 version but I'm not there yet. To use the distribution you need to be able to compile programs on your target machine - you just need to understand the rudiments of the compiler and make to do this. The distribution includes ftmap version 1.5 example data files and a set of ship images to get you going. IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT If you want the distribution respond to me PERSONALLY and not ME TOO to the list. timj@gdscorp.com I am not a software support desk either so this distribution is not supported on a formal basis. You are on your own, unless you are completely stuck. If you workout the compiler flags for other machines let me know so I can add them to the Makefile. I'm interested in bugs in the distribution and ftmap.c. The distribution comes in 2 files in unix tar format in either the gzip or compress compression please specify. FYI you can unpack these on PC/Mac with the right tools, I don't plan a zip distribution. The files are ftmap_src.tar - 61K source code ftmap_image.tar - 334K image files These will be sent as email attachments if you can't take the bigger file say so some mailers barf on bigger files. Sincerely
