Pegasus Mail (I use it for Win32 platforms.... it also has the advantage of
being freeware). It features some pretty reasonable handling for
mailing lists, mailing groups, MULTI-POP, etc.

I've found it is also somewhat e-mail virus
resistant.

Something to consider if your mailer seems to choke on digests.

Someone - sorry, missed who - said that Eudora Light chokes on big
posts. I
run Eudora 5.1 in light mode and haven't noticed any such problems - the

biggest posts I've sent and recieved were well over a MB in size.

Eudora 5.1 "light mode" is appearently not the same as Eudora Light, but it
is just as free (or at least it was when I downloaded it) :-)

For a top-notch and free (in every sense) mailer, I recently turned to
Mozilla 0.95 (www.mozilla.org). This nets you a good browser (I can do
online banking with it) and a good mail/news client - easily comparable

to Eudora and much nicer than IE or Outlook. It's also much safer than Outlook
and doesn't have any ads in it.

Whatever you've heard about Mozilla in the past is out of date; this version
is solid.

Just be sure to switch to the 'Modern' theme, the Classic Netscape look is
still ugly.
