Here in Holland my club(Murphy's Heroes) orders rolls of magnabase (60xcm x
10m) at the local hardware store. They have to special order it, but the price
ends up being about 60 euros per meter or something. That's a lot better than
wargame shops are asking.

I'd first suggest you consider reversing that: steel washers and plastic,
adhesive magnetic sheets.

I'm pretty certain that there is a supplier of both named Renaissance Ink, but
I haven't had contact for years. You know I'll be googleing...

Definitely no suggestion as best/cheapest, just the one off the top of
my head.

Beast,

Thanks for the reply, I actally am after the steel paper for a
non-wargaming
reason. Just figured that if it was available in the US/Canada then
somebody on here would know.

I look forard to hearing the results of your Google

A local manufacturer now has punched steel disks in a variety of sizes from
20mm to 3". They are more expensive than washers (approximately $0.20 each)
but they are thinner than most washers for the same diameter. He is also
considering punched metal hexes in a variety of sizes. If you are interested I
can get you his contact information.

Magnetic sheet is available at most sign places - I don't know if all
places carry the self-adhesive type, but it's not difficult to glue down
large sections using 3M spray adhesive.

Litko Aerosystems - http://www.litkoaero.com/

They laser cut miniatures bases out of plywood, flexible magnetic sheets and
flexible steel sheets to almost any size you can think of plus they will do
custom work up to 11 inches by 23 inches.

In a recent topic from The Miniatures Page Message Board Litko said: "What we
sell is actually "Flexible Steel"... it's a bit more durable that paper steel.
It actually looks just like flexible magnet does, except that it has
microscopic bits of iron in it."

I ordered from Litko earlier this year and got good service.

Try here:

http://www.custom-magnets.com/

Their prices run about $5 per linear foot off a 24 inch roll. Way better than
any other supplier I have run into.
