I didn't intend the 'Age and Complexity' to be for eveyone to introduce
themselves, but I think it did show up that most are much more experienced
than myself in gaming! And that finding opponents is tough, so PBem and solo
play options are very very useful, but solo play isn't really supported. Most
people on this list don't have any trouble with scenarios, as they have been
at it for years it seems..
Jon (GZG), can you (try and) put some solo play stuff in the Fleet Book
please... You also need more publicity... a great many SF starship fans have
never heard of FT, and would play it, even without being hard core gamers,
which seems to be your main market....if you put some more backstory in it, at
least send a press release to SF&FM....
But anyway, went to WonFes in Tokyo Sunday and picked up some 'Legends Of
Galactic Heros' [in japanese it means something more like 'a really really
long long, never ending battle history, that just goes on and
on',
or that is what some friends told me 8^)]resin and white metal space ships so
you can see what they look like. They aren't gaming miniatures, unless your
using the MU of 10" or so..
This is the image that most have seen:

Is it just me, or do the official Neu Swabian League ships bear a certain
resemblence to certain LOGH starships?
And is is coincidence that the NAC Miyazaki class frigates look mighty
similar to the one-armed 'fallen' robot in Laputa?
Inquiring minds wonder about these things....

A bit of trivia: The same robot is also seen in Nausicaa and a
Miyazaki-directed episode of Lupin III.

Both sheer coincidence actually. Paul Copeland, who designed all the FT ships
released up until 1996, has never been an Anime fan and therefore probably
never seen Laputa or LOGH. He also designed the NSL ships before B5 aired, so
the similarity with B5 EA ships is also a (fortunate!) conincidence....

Now that GZG have taken over the FT line will there be new ships released,
specifically in the NSL line. The sort of ships I was thinking of were: an
Escort Carrier, a military transport, a planetary assault ship, and a cruiser
between the heavy cruiser and the Escort cruiser (assault cruiser
?).

Eh? I'll have to pull that movie out and give it a closer look.

I'd heard that, but alas, have no access to any Lupin III TV eps. *sigh*

Darn. Here I thought I'd discovered an in-joke or two.... baka to the
drawing board I guess.:)

Um, might it not be an idea to wait for the Fleet book and then fill in any
'blanks'?
