All of this TALK about Full Thrust is fun, but does anyone want to try
playing a real game on-line? I downloaded a game set that will allow you
to play Full Thrust over the internet... and I've never tried to play the
Lafayette Incident campaign that is in the old FT II.
Anyone want to try it out? I would think five players would be cool:
2 NAC players 2 ESU players 1 Ref to keep things fun
Anyone up for it?
La Fayette is really too big for webgames unless you have really dedicated GMs
and multiple players. I started as the ESU player earlier this year & it died
on the second turn of combat orders (after I attacked 3 systems
simultaneously).

Maybe when I have a half-playable alpha of my PBeM processor it might
be worth a shot.. I'm working on it. [slowly];)

What happened? Did the game just 'peter out', or did ya'll loose someone
because of real world problems?
As the NAC player, I think the ref got overwhelmed by RL

A campaign-type game over email would be a little more problemmatic
logistics-wise than an individual scenario. Were you planning on doing
the combat using FT or abstracting it out to something like Imperium or
another strategic level game? Unless you abstract out the combat, life will
get real complicated real fast (J Han attempted to do a
small campaign-style game, but due to a variety of reasons it never
got anywhere :-/ ).

In order for this campaign to work effectively, you need multiple GMs and
players. Since a single strategic turn can result in multiple combats, the
individual combats can be resolved simultaneously.
Or you could find a GM that can run several games at a time, but they
can be very hard to find these days. :-)

I'd volunteer for this sort of thing, but:
1) I have less than zero time right now to do any GMing, and
2) if I *had* time, I've got a small number of other scenarios I want to run
PBeM.:)

Hey, Indy...
I didn't know that you've run multiple games simultaneously. I was referring
to the Empress Arianna tournament when I had eight games at
once. I must not have had a social life at that point. :-0 No wonder
my family doesn't want me to run another tournament!

Mmmmmm... depends on how fast everyone wants to go. I was figuring that a
*pure* strategic turn should take only a week to do- with each turn in
the fleet actions also taking a week. I'm not in any rush, so putting a year
into this sounds pretty cool! Considering that I know no other Full Thrust
players in my little speck of this rock... that sounds way better than nothing
:)
As for what system to use: I think the bare bones system in FT2 would work
just nicely. No need to get really fancy! The system is pretty sound and
looks rather fun (like the one for TSR's Knight Hawks)... Now that would be a
fun campaign! The Knight Hawks campaign using full thrust. Anyone have
conversions for the system into FT?
Then will you run only one fleet action turn a week? Even if you have engaged
in multiple star systems? It will take longer than a year to resolve your
campaign.
What part of the universe do you live in? Have you checked the two Player
locator pages?

I haven't run multiple games simultaneously, but it was something I was toying
with for a [small!] campaign when you started up your Empress Ariana tournies.
But of course I know it would totally and utterly eliminate any
kind of social life, and since I kinda sorta have one right now... ;-)
