Hmmmmm, you do have a point. My usual opponent is a reluctant agressor; he
usually accels very slowly into a confrontation, and never uses the high V
rate to his advantage; then he has the gall to blame his defeat on 1) my

lucky dice rolls, 2) his crappy dice rolls, 3) anything other than his lack of
tactical manuvuers (sp?). He only won last time because he simply had
superior ships. (Yeah, it sounds like the same belly-aching.....) I
still
wonder what would happen in a KV attack v. "The Tin-Can Brigade." Sure,
I'd lose a number of ships, but a lot of destroyers will overwhelm a decent
sized fleet; I proved it to my opponent on at least one occasion.

If I was the KV player I would'nt be sitting around waiting for the
'escort/fighter attack, I would be using my superior thrust capability
to close on the enemy carriers and thus force the enemy to hit me with all his
fighters or lose his CVs. An attack by a few fighters does'nt really worry me,
the armour on my ships would greatly reduce fighter effectivness.(attack
fighters an exception) Also if you use the MT fighter movement it can be
pretty difficult to target a KV ship, its 'special thrust' capabilities can
make it hard to predict its final position. Best results I've had with
fighters against KVs was using 'Heavy Attack' fighters, however they were
pretty expensive and I still lost the game as my carriers were riddled by Rail
Guns.

If you use the relatively inexpensive maneuverability of a Destroyer Squadron
against the KVs you can defeat them. I did it with a combination of missile
Destroyers (4 each) and Heavy Destroyers (A Batteries with three arcs). The
EMP missiles were very effective since armor does not affect them. Phil P.
