I do know one situation where a rather famous author uses a lot of ideas from
his fans to keep a series going and all he does is acknowledge them. {Piers
Anthony & all those puns in the Xanth series.} I would think that it wouldn't
take much to get a disclaimer from each idea
maker and go with it, it's not like Jon were a multi-million dollar
sports team who capitolizes on everything!!! Also it's not hard to see that
most of our ideas keep coming up again and again with each new author thinking
this is a really NEW idea [sorry fellas but its true, most of our ideas are
really a variation on a theme rather than totally original!!] Most
importantly, I wouldn't mind donating a story or something for the chance to
see MY NAME in the credits [it's about the only way I'll ever get published!!!
] Besides once my name is in the credits you'll probably see it's importance
grow like any good fish story ( now just how did you manage to catch that
whale in Miller's pond Tom?)
Suggestion, post an offer for submissions, say for a fleet book [ catagories
- rules stories, weapons, etc ] and offer the winners publication with
attached names and credit ( but no money!) and see the responce? If they are
usable then we've done some of the work, if not it will still be a real fun
exercise ( after playing games, I like talking about games next best!)

While fuming over the 'joys' of finding the old ESCI Khyber Pass package (I
now have several leads besides eBay which cost me $11.95 (when I won
-
the other times some other crazy 'won' the auctions... I do have a budget to
try and keep within!) for 50 plastic figures (of which I want the 10 turbaned
figures only) I had a heretical thought.
If we use 25mm or 15mm figures in metal for SG2, just as some use 25mm or
15mm metal or 1/72nd plastic (old days and sometimes even today) for
colonials - why not plastic 1/72nd figures for SG games? Well, I
realize
that those figures (1/72nd plastic SF figures) are not even close to
common - but do they exist at all? I realize that the plastic figures
part of the hobby is supposedly extremely depressed but the per capita cost of
plastic figures (except on eBay of course) are less then the per capita cost
of metal figures. Does anybody have any ideas if such
figures or easy conversions would even be do-able???
Like I said, just a thought. <grin>
Gracias, Glenn/Triphibious (American Mongrel) You don't have to be

6mm/10mm figures.
1/72 modern troops exist. These figures would likely be your best
chance for sci-fi conversions. Cut down the M-16s on Americans. Ad
some fine wire around helmets to represent the cables for optics?
Modern British or French would be good too as they have nifty bullpup guns
which always seem more futuristic.
Modify some cheap 1/72 plastic kits into hovercraft or gravs or leave
them basicly the same for that matter and you could do it. Just have to put in
the time.
We used to wargame modern combat with 1/72nd plastics. Another idea
that hit me for those who are into the FMA Skirmish and like to model -
try 1/35. You get a huge range of gear, a figure big enough to easily
modify. Several companies make seperate heads, hats and gears. Swap out
nationalities helmets or combine elements you like and you could get a highly
detailed, visually stimulating squad.

Done this, excellent fun. the vehicle's are cool as well (Char B, huge tank)
Sure--I've got some that I planned (before Istarted buying 25mm leads,
anyway) on using. Some Revell Modern German Panzergrenadiers, Modern US (with
the Fritz helmets), and ESCI NATO troops llok pretty decent. The larger
"Action Fleet" Star Wars figures (not the slightly smaller micromachine ones)
are about the same size, to boot. And one of the WW2 Fallschirmjager sets (I
think it was the ESCI one) had appropriate figures
too--the straight-rimmed helmets and armed with MP43 AR. And I know
someone produced Vietnam War sets that could be used as well.
And recently, I saw that Revell was doing a Modern German Paratrooper
set...
Just a few suggetions.
