In some way which now eludes my memory, I ran across a game called JUMP,
details of which are at www.jumpgame.com. Looks interesting as a FT campaign
system. There's a review from
someone who saw it at GenCon--did any of our listers actually
see/play it?
I'm hoping it's on the same level of complexity as, say, DBA, FT, or OGRE.

I didn't see it until Sunday. I saw the game a few times, but never when I had
time to see it demoed, but on Sunday I saw the game components. I know KR had
a copy at the Geo-Hex booth with a sign that said, "suitable for a Full
Thrust campaign" or some such. I don't know anyone who played it.
I did get to see "Starfarers of Catan" demoed. I have yet to play Settlers,
but I keep hearing it's a great game. Starfarers looked awesome. The parts in
it were beautiful. It looked like such a wonderful game I almost bought
it...
but the US$75 price tag put me off. It was worth the price, really, but I just
had so much else I wanted to get.
We've tried it, liked it, and I bought a couple cases to sell on the website.
Have to get it posted tho'!!
The components alone make it a sure fire campaign system. It has rules to
cover building forces, politics, etc., so many of the things you would have to
create to have a decent campaign are already there.
We've been asked to explore making miniatures for their system, and while
nothing is written in stone yet, this could happen in the next couple months.

So how complicated is it? One turn per ten minutes? I seem to recall a playing
time of about 2 hours listed? (Ah, for those college days when we could set up
Third Reich and leave it set up
for a couple of weeks...) How suitable is it for PBeM and/or
solitaire?

Not necessarily, just post the price to the list. I need to buy some mini's
anyway.

You NEED to buy mini's? Don't we all <grin>?

Well, yes. Otherwise, for Christmas, my mom will buy me books she erroneously
thinks I might like, my sister will get me another plaid shirt and bland tie,
and my wife will get me something which is nice but overpriced, like tickets
to Phantom of the Opera (which I would have enjoyed at $30 for the family, but
not at $150). So it's better to tell them "I'm ordering some
sculpture from a West Coast artist and a book from England--if
you'd like to chip in, in lieu of a Christmas present..."

Shudddder, consider me correctly reprimanded - been there (Some times
still there - and my wife understands minis somewhat having been a
FPRG'er.)
I like that idea (I take it the sculpture is the mini's - they're
sculpture! - and the book is a either a resource (historical or SF) book
or a rule book?)
Won't work with my wife but maybe with parents...

I somehow have never gotten around to mentioning to them quite what size
sculpture I'm thinking of. And the books are, of
course, reference books--I refer to them when I'm at the gaming
table, right?

Yes, and YES!
Why upset them? They are getting their loved one something they really
want...
