Just so y'all know, Jon T arrived safe and sound (and early!) last night to
the States. He's currently plotting nefarious schemes for the weekend (no,
wait, that's Laserlight, iirc; brain still fuzzy from sleep, lack of). Anyway,
looking forward to seeing everyone at the con, and I'll pass on any msgs you
have for him today directly (yes, Beast, I will pass on your
love - in printed form ;-)

Nah, give someone else an opportunity at lunacy. SOMEBODY on this list is
crazy enough.

Notice I'm the one safely 1000 miles away...

Whoops, Yahoo Maps sez over 1200. Wouldn't Jon be impressed if I ever DID get
there...

That's 1933 in English mu's!

When I was over in Britain in '92 I noticed that they were pretty
schizophrenic about distances. Most of the time distances were in miles, with
kilometres used only near tourist attractions.

Gosh, we're pretty much exactly the same distance from Lancaster! Now that's
weird... (Yahoo Maps says I'm 1183 miles away.)

That makes us just neighbors, right? Swing on over anytime, and I'll put a gun
to a friend's head to pull out his StarGrunt. You know you can always spank me
in FT...

PS. I know that was cruel, but I loved doing it.

We never use kilometres. Our government sometimes tries it, and fails. What
you saw was almost certainly a map produced for foreigners.

3586 from me.

No, it was a speed sign just outside of Urquhart Castle near Drumnadrochit,
Scotland. There was also a sign, the text of which I can't remember, beside it
in several different European languages.

The weird part was that I didn't remember seeing any other signs in kilometres
on the way, so why bother doing it there?

Ah. This would have been paid for by a grant of some kind, probably from the
EU; not an official road sign, therefore.

I'm guessing that the trip to Lancaster, PA for you would be almost a straight
line due east. That still puts us as way too far apart, doesn't it. At least
you have other guys to play with there. The only thing close to a game store
in this town is a comics place, and they are heavy into D20, Magic, Legend of
the Five Rings, and miniatures that click.

Maybe I need to take out an ad in the local paper. *L*

Indy -- you shouldn't be suffering from lack of sleep BEFORE the con!

I remember last summer's GenCon... I didn't have enough cash to afford one
last night at the hotel, so I spent the entire night up wandering the late
night games, watching anime, and catching a cat-nap in the miniatures
hall.

Remind me not to do that again when and if I go next year.
