Subject: Irregular Miniatures

Ages ago, someone asked for the address of Irregular Miniatures - I've
finally gotten organized enough to find and post it...I've also got a question
I want to throw out there about some of Irreg's line...

IRREGULAR MINIATURES 3 Apollo Street, Heslington Road, York YO1 5AP UNITED
KINGDOM

Tel/Fax: 01904 671101
(they take Visa & Access)

No email address/website that I've ever found, however...their regular
mail order is pretty fast, however.

My Question:

Does anyone have any experience with the various spaceship miniatures
Irregular produces? What do they look like? (I know enough about Irregular to
know the overall detail level will be low, but the price is good, so if the
general appearance of the ships is decent...)

They have two ranges: "6mm Space Ships", w/ Human & Alien ships, five or
six in each batch.

the larger "Spaceship Range", w/ the Imperial, Dysonian,
Delphan & Confederation fleets, plus misc. support/civilian ships.

Anyone seen/own examples from any of these ranges, some sort of
information on their appearance would be appreciated.

These, frankly, are pretty poor (sorry, Nic!) - very basic lumpy shapes
with little detail. If you are seriously interested then get just a sample or
two first.
> the larger "Spaceship Range", w/ the Imperial, Dysonian,

These are much better, though still a bit plain in the detail department; they
are, however, cheap and very useable. The Imperial range are Trek
Fed-style ships, ie: saucers and warp pods, and make a good addition to
the SFB, FASA and Micromachine Trek stuff if you are into that sort of thing
(with the possible exception of the carrier, which looks like a WW2 flattop
with trek-style warp nacelles stuck on - very odd!). Others in the range
are a little bit Klingonesque, though not as much as the Imperials look like
Fed ships if you see what I mean! Can't remember exactly which
race/fleet is which, sorry.
Nic at Eureka will probably offer more info on these, 'cos he's on the list
and he makes them for Oz. Some of the civilian freighters are nice, and the
little "hyperspace submarines" look great!
They also have a handful of Space:1889 style space-ironclads out......

If they're the miniatures I'm thinking of, I was disappointed in the carriers,
but found the smaller ships joust fine, though flat bottomed.

I can only agree with what Jon has written. I like the Space:1899 gear, but
haven't bothered to put any of the others into my own fleet.

I believe some of the Dysonian and other stuff has a Trek look about it, but
since I haven't seen Star Trek since 1976, I couldn't possibly comment. I can
give a verbal description of particular code numbers of the ships if people
would like. Possibly you may want to send private mail on this subject as I
think it could get a little boring.

Cheers

Nic
