Probably a good idea, so I'll try and reign in the couple of dozen
half-baked ideas that I _haven't_ posted yet :-)

I was just noticing how often your name comes up on the page. ;->=

You have my unbridled admiration; I've thought of no new systems. I keep
plugging away trying to come up with interesting campaign sets.

Currently I'm trying to marry the recently suggested Cerberus-style
world map with a orbital map cobbled from the Buck Rogers board game for a
Vac-head/Groppo interface. It's not pretty...

Well - most of my ideas are inspired by things I see (or read about) in
SF. (But the Goop pod was my idea alone :-)

I know enough about maths and statistics to attempt to mathematically
balance the results - but I sometimes miss a vital factor - and some
ideas are hard to balance this way (ask Oerjan).

OTOH, I'm not a very proficient tactician (yet).

Hmm.. a Space/Ground combo game - I see your point _ I tried something
similar at a Euro-Gen Con many years ago (when it was still at Camber
Sands) using the AD&D Spelljammer rules for the space part, and Battlesystem
for the ground part. (I hadn't discovered Full Thrust etc. at that time).

The set up was the space map, showing the space around an asteroid, and the
actual asteroid terrain itself.

I ended up running it in 2 episodes, first the space combat, then the
ground combat - and I was suffering from 'flu at the time as well :-(
It actually worked quite well.

Then again, when you're the ref, you don't need to worry about tactics (unless
there are ref controled units, of course).

And I once tried to come up with a Space Fleet/Space Marine(Epic) combo.
;

It was also going to be a space battle followed by a land battle, with a plot
twist to cause a further space battle. Given I'd played Space Fleet only a few
times, and the epic game MAYBE twice, I wasn't near familiar enough to do this
any justice.

I've played FTII a lot more, but my DSII experience isn't much better. And,
this is a much more interconnected scheme, with all ortillery and 'insertion'
ships requiring positioning in a geosynch orbit, and 'slots' in that orbit
over which to fight.

We shall see, right?
