My gf sent me this webpage, more for the interest and how well it is
illustrated that one can see ground detail from orbit. I
looked at it and started getting DSII/SG/FMA scenario ideas running
through my head (and not necessarily "get the terrorist" ones; just the use of
the terrain and features for scenarios). THese could convert into good maps,
and an ambitious modeler could replicate these, no?
I am not that ambitious modeler, unfortunately.

I understand the photos can be found elsewhere, but these are the first I've
seen them. Most impressive.
A series like this always suggests to me a structure of scenerios, such that
you have several 'targets', each a separate table. Nothing I've tried, even
vis a vis vachead, but always a thought.
The other thing is, of course, is that this area is SO rough, that modeling it
near correctly leaves you with problem of how you keep
figs-on-bases from sliding down the slopes. However, it does give
motivation to get out the foam cutters again. ;->=
Please pass on my thanks to your lady.

Not to start Tom & Derek ranting again about the righteousness of 25mm, but if
I were ever sufficiently motivated to do this, I'd use 6mm and maybe a
bit of blu-tack if needed. Except I'd attack with air assets, or I'd
defend with guys who were all concelaed and therefore off table. This kind of

What a great idea for a convention game. If the assault is close enough you
could even do one unit of artillery is supporting all of them and can only
call in one strike a turn with limited ammo.
Subject: images from space - for the ambitious terrain modeler!

Indy, A few of us gammers back at FT Sill OK accually did this terrain years
ago. Only for colonial war games (Nothwest Fronter) and as I recall it was not
a fun place to be English!
