Question:
How does one deal with the missile armed ships of the FSE?
When playing with vectored movement, those missiles just can't miss. The group
I play with has tried three scenarios with fairly large point totals, and the
NAC has gotten thoroughly trounced all three times.
(Conversely, it would seem with "cinematic" movement, the missiles would have
a really hard time hitting.)

Go fast, really fast (40+) or use a lot of Kamikaze Jammers - small
ships on the fringe of your fleet to soak up missiles.

Give missiles a 3" attack radius, instead of 6". Or double the ships' thrust.
Use "banzai jammers"--expendable light vessels escorting your "real"
ships. Use fighters to intercept missiles.

Fighters tend to work well... Or as someone else has said keep a few small
escorts arranged about your larger ships.

Depends on your opponent. I've faced opponents who knew I had SMR,
and who knew what SMR would do, but nonetheless poked along at 6-8mu
per turn. Lemming syndrome, I guess.
1. Make sure you are using the 3" spread rule instead of 6"
2. Make sure your ships are thrust 5 or greater.
3. Make sure you put PDSs and at least one ADFC on most ships.
4. Take a few smaller ships to work as bait. Tuck them in close to your big
guys.
5. Rip your opponent apart when he runs out of missiles.
6. Play FSE a couple times, you'll quickly realize many things that make life
difficult for the FSE.
7. <SLIME>disallow pre-measurement. Strongly favors those with
a great sense of distance regardless of tactics.</SLIME>
