Hi, Does anyone have any input on the new Sierra online computer game called
Homeworld? It's an FT type game with a flair of 3D like graphics. Does anyone
own it, and how does it play. I ask because I am contemplating buying a copy
for myself and wanted to be sure that I was the first...

Thanks,

Great game! a lot of fun and easy to control your ships. i think the
multplayer is better than the single player..

I played the demo of it, so I may not have seen everything.

It really knocked my socks off. The graphics were great (definitely need a
good 3d card and a fast system) and the interface was easy to learn and
navigate.

If you can, check out the demo.

Brilliant graphics, and nice 3d environment. Unfortunately, the game does not
come with either a difficulty setting or any way of slowing down time.

As I am not a Real Time Strategy master, I find this game entertaining, yet
difficult. This difficulty, unfortunately, is not revealed in the free demo
(naturally?).

Sometimes the logic behind the single-player missions is somewhat
faulty. eg. "You have just won a pyrrhic victory over the enemy! Now, you must
destroy their base of operations!" Only an idiot would attack without
numerical superiority, let alone being outnumbered 5 to 1. Unfortunately, the
computer assigns you the role of strategic imbecile.

The difficulty is offset, however, by the sheer beauty of the graphics. Your
hopelessy outclassed fleet blows up beautifully.

The game is awesome. I agree however that the multi-player option is
much more enjoyable than the single player missions. Some of the mission
expectations are pretty incredible, and require dying several times to narrow
your strategy.

However, it is an excellent game and well worth the money.

Only serious PC's need apply - for full effects a 400 PII and a 32Mb
Graphics card according to games domain.

This game *is* the closest I've seen to my vision of FT the computer game so
far.

has any one tried changing the models used in the game so that the ships look
like ships from another universe?

I.E.. Star wars or maybe GZG..???

just a thought...
