What ever happened to Leading Edge? They made 25mm models of the UD4 Dropship
and the M577 APC from Aliens. The APC was pretty good but I never saw the
Dropship. Are they still available?

Occasionally you can still find them, however, the dropship is REALLY
expensive. To find the figs, however, is a whole other kettle of
fish, I've been looking for years and I seldom see them.

Two GenCons ago, Chessex (the distributor) was selling Leading Edge figures at
a pretty good discount (around 50%), trying to liquidate their stock. I picked
up 3 or 4 of the Aliens boxed sets, and ignored the Dracula, Lawnmower Man and
Phoenix Command figures. Since then, I haven't seen Leading Edge figures
around at all.

Leading Edge is in stasis. The company itself actually still exists, but they
don't sell or produce anything. Essentially, the principals have kept the
company alive on paper.

It will be very difficult to find any of the Aliens stuff. They closed up shop
before GenCon 95. At that point, a friend of the owner was selling off LEG
stuff. I picked up a bunch of Phoenix Command stuff at that point. The
following year he was back, and Chessex was also dumping their LEG stuff. I
picked up more of their figs especially for Stargrunt. The Neemis Enterprises
pack (5 troopers and 3 Power Armoured guys) is a good match for GZG Stargrunt
2 figures.

These figures are now pretty hard to find. The Aliens stuff went first and
fast. The Terminator figures were popular, too. It's now pretty hard to find
the Living Steel figures. The Army of Darkness figures
are fairly common. If you can find any of this stuff--particularly the
Aliens figures--you'd be well advised to scoop it up. Even if you
don't need it, someone here would take it off your hands.

Does the Army of Darkness line refer to the movie of the same name? Is there
actually a figure of Ash?

Yes, and yes. As cheesy as it is, it's one of my favourite movies.
Lot's of fun with plenty of good one-liners.

My memory of the 'sentry' guns in the movie is of pretty simplistic items,
but someone else who reads this list admitted off-line he thought the
figs he had were just cargo boxes.

Unfortunately, I've thumbed through the Aliens CM Tech Manual, and haven't
found a piccie.

The post I made earlier about the CM's fitting in with older Grenadier was
about their armor and other gear; I think they look fine otherwise, but put up
next to the others, they will be seen to lack animation. Exceptions include
Drake(from the APC box?) and the Colonist's Last Stand.

Only if you can find them on the back shelf of your local store. I never saw
the APC, but the dropship is gorgeous (I have one). It is a pain to put
together (LOTS of epoxy), and it weighs a ton.

I have managed to find a few of the Aliens and Terminator boxes, which are
great for SGII. I would KILL for more of the aliens. I made a few molds, but
due to the poses of the figs, it is very difficult to get a
good result using gravity-casting. Ahhh, if only I could afford a
spin-caster.... :)

Laterish!

Dear List Members:

Leading Edge Games closed their doors a few years ago, alot of
the employees left to form Bad Dog Designs. If anyone is looking
for some of their figures. There is a game store in Fullerton, CA called the
Game Castle. They have some Aliens, Living Steel figure sets, and they have a
few sets of the 25mm Battle Figures from Ral Partha.

Well.....

I have acess to all kinds of centrifuges at work but never tried casting. I
guess I may end up experimenting some day, see if I can make some more aliens
( I managed to get two warriors so I guess i could use them for a mould).

In case anyone is worried I'm resurecting THAT thread, have no fear i'm not
its just wishful thinking on my part.
