Subject: [GZG] Return of GZG West Coast Convention

Hi All,

I'd like to take a few minutes to announce the return of GZG West Coast
Convention. It's going to be partnered with "CelestiCon: A
Sci-Fi Gaming Convention."

The Tactics-0 game club is celebrating their 10th anniversary this
year and we decided to take the plunge and host a convention. The club plays a
lot of Traveller board and miniatures games, as well as
GZG games. Our web site is at http://www.tactics-0.org

Jon Tuffley liked the idea of a "2-in-1" convention: one room will
be GZG games, the other will be sci-fi games with an emphasis on the
Traveller universe of games. Since there is some crossover between Traveller
and GZG, the convention will gain a lot of synergy with the two topics.

Anyway, here are the details:

Web site: http://www.celesticon.com
Yahoo Group: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/celesticon/
Location: San Ramon Mariott, San Ramon, California (just east of San
Francisco)
Dates: 23-25 October 2009

Please check out the web site. If you have questions you can post them to the
Yahoo Group, email events@celesticon.com, or email me directly.

Good luck with this, Kris! Please contact me a bit nearer the time regarding

turns out! :-)

s,

A Pox on your House! (only because I can't make the trip from Ottawa and
Traveller and GZG stuff are my two favourite game systems) <*grin*>

Seriously, I hope you can organize a collection of pictures and AARs like they
collect after ECC and post them somewhere we can all see. I've really
enjoyed Traveller themed Stargrunt and FT/PPF/PPE games (nod of respect
to Sr.Kinsey and Sr.Frye).

I knew immediately when I saw the name Tactics-0 that someone had to be
talking about Traveller....:)

Have the best of luck, make a big success of it, and keep rolling that over
into momentum for the next year. Try to draft in some other dedicated people
to help though. Jon Davis would tell you ECC has been a heavy load at times
but that having Indy, Jerry (when his papers were in order) and others to help
out was pretty critical. And that is what has allowed 12 ECCs to date.

Maybe someday I'll have the money and time at the same time to make a WCC.
:)

Good luck and...

...TERRA MUST BE FREE!

(Okay, yes I have Solomani sympathies....)

Thanks, Jon! I'll do that.

We're getting a pretty strong response locally. in fact, when the club
announced the convention at an FLGS's flea market event, a guy I've been
playing "Flames of War" with for the last year walked up
and said, "I was one of the guys who organized the first GZG-WCC."
Hopefully we'll reunite a lot of these players.

The hotel is VERY gamer friendly and is helping a lot. So I think we've got a
lot going for the success of the con already.

Hi Tom,

> Seriously, I hope you can organize a collection of pictures and AARs

One of our club members has already volunteered to take lots of pictures and
I'll post pictures from anyone who submits them. The same for AARs.

The Tactics-0 club loves AARs anyway.

Guilty as charged.:)

> Jon Davis would tell you ECC has been a heavy load at times

Jon, Jerry and Indy have already been a big help. A big thanks from me to
them! A number of local guys have been asking for this convention for a while,
they've stepped up too.

Thanks, Kris

Good luck Kris! I'd love to come and see if I could go two for two and win
the 'longest distance travelled' award again but alas, I don't think I can
make the trip.Â

Kris -

Here's a virtual "pat on the back" for pulling together the next GZG WCC! I'm
glad to see it happening again and wish you guys the best of luck.

I'd sincerely appreciate it if you call your event "GZG WCC 2." I ran the
first GZG WCC in October of 2000. We had about 14 folks show up to the hotel
in Oakland where we ran it. It was a blast but I was never able to pull off
another due to much higher venue rates, Real Life (R), etc. Since all of us
are part of the "GZG Family" I'd like to think of
your event as the next in our many "family re-unions."

I'll try to put the GZG WCC 1 page back up on my website. It came down when I
moved hosting companies.

Oh yeah - I'm gonna dog-pile on what Tom B said. I wanna see pictures -
lots of pictures!

one of the original GzG-WCC crew, I wish you luck. The youngest
participant is now a Freshman in High School (in Kindergarten when we held the
first one)

We left the Bay Area @ 4 years ago, probably would not make it back for this
