Hi Vince,
Yes, I would like to seem them. I have no idea of the actual model size
(I'm hoping they're bigger than the current Konstantin CVA/Komarov SSD
as they cost more:() which makes it a little hard knowing where to start. Are
these designs on your website?

David

The new ESU and new NAC are both a fair bit bigger than the old. I had a new
NAC SDN on the table last night and one experienced player asked, "What's that
monster?".

REALLY? *squeeky, excited voice*
I just assumed it was a normal cost-of-living/business increase. I have
trouble keeping the older ESU 'monsters' on bases as it is!
Looks like it's time to recharge the old account.

Caveat (minor): I've only assembled the new NAC. But the pieces of the new ESU
look bigger.
If I can take decent picture, I should send Jon or Dean G a picture of the old
and new SDN side by side.

The new designs are a bit bigger, and certainly use more metal -
hence the pricing. Despite the horrendous increases in metal prices recently
(almost a 25% hike last time we bought stock!), we've kept the prices of all
the old minis the same, and for the smaller classes of the new designs, but
the very big new ones just HAD to go up a
bit! :-)

Well, we are now supplying all the very big ships (old AND new
sculpts) with the new 50mm all-metal hex base and stand, which should
make them a lot stronger and more stable.

You've still got a couple of days to get in on the Summer Sale..... it doesn't
end till Tuesday!

That they do, very much so. The new NAC SDN, while very heavy, is also very
stable on the new base. The new base is also low, broad and flat enough for
smaller ship bases to partially overlap it without problems.

Significantly bigger, hex rather than round, and much thinner. Nice stout
metal post fits into collar in middle of hex. We find a 50mm base is big
enough to comfortably take even the largest of our ship
minis, as Tom confirms below! :-)

I think the old bases were between 25-35mm, roughly inch to inch and a
half, so on the order of twice as wide.
The CMD remakes were pretty thick, as well. Now, if I'm viewing the piccies at
the store right, aren't the new bases hexes rather than circles? I'm a bit
less happy about that.

Whoops, sorry about that; didn't know if any other responses were forthcoming.

http://lists.csua.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/gzg-lThey look noce but
would be better if they were round. I have some
rotationally challenged gamers. With a round base you mark the placement of
the tick on the the base with a fingernail on the table. Rotate until the next
tick matches. Hexes are hard to do odd number of point tyrns.

Yeah, but with a dodecagon, you could put the measuring device square with
the side, and rotate to another exact postition. ;->=
I like a round base, as I said, but it's not a huge thing.

I'd prefer hexes, actually. Makes it easier to visualize firing arcs
and you can still rotate it the way you were describing--if you're
making an odd rotation, just line it up with the center of the hex side.
