Hi all,
Some quick questions on 15mm SF:
I want to get some idea of what people want to see (or see more of) in the
15mm vehicle range, so I'd like to know your preferences re: tech levels and
mobility types.
Please rate your liking for the following types of AFVs, on a scale of 1 to 5,
with 1 being "stupid idea, can't stand 'em" and 5 being
"yes please, would buy lots!" ;-)
1) Tracked vehicles 2) Wheeled vehicles 3) Hover vehicles (air cushion) 4)
"Early" Grav (like the ones we've done so far) 5) "Advanced" Grav (high tech)
6) Walkers (multi-legged)
7) Walkers (bipedal, ie: "Mechs")
Thanks!

With the added remark that it all depends on the style of the models. I do
like your current crop of grav and walker models, so I think you're on to
something.

In my opinion walkers fit in more with Star Wars abd Battletech. I know
there's a faction out there that really enjoys them, but for near-future
conflict like in the FT/DS/SG universe, I don't think they're really
viable. The way some trends in the U.S. Army are looking (FCS) wheeled might
be the way things are heading.

What can I say - I'm a 'mech-head and a Trav 2300 fan! Some generic PA
would be nice to go with some of the other figure ranges (IF, NI,
Militia) that don't have any of their own and some Kra'Vak/Phalon
vehicles wouldn't go amiss either, in the long run.

Although I have a bunch of the Mechwarrior click stuff and used to have a
bunch of Heavy Gear stuff (until I sold them off when they abandoned the
scale), I'm not a huge fan of walkers. If I were to get
any, it would be more likely to be the multi-legged type.
I prefer grav and hover vehicles to tracked and wheeled because they
are more "sci-fi", and because I have a bunch of Roco minitanks that
are tracked and wheeled (not to mention I bought some of the tracked APCs
earlier this year for SG2).
What I'd _really_ like to see are Phalon vehicles in 15mm, and Phalon
infantry and vehicles in 6mm.
Likewise a vacchead, though I HAVE bought a fair amount of gropo.
I'll admit some research suggests two-legged walkers aren't THAT far
away, though I still think anthropomorphic is silly....
If I were a true 15mm fan boy, I'd probably even the first three to '4',
and up 7 to a '2' if Mecha became Chicken-legged. But, you'd probably
not go wrong in just taking James' original vote, and consider it a single
vote
between the two of us. ;->=

I'd like to see more 'soft' style wheeled vehicles - jeep/uaz/hummv
like vehicles, perhaps something similar to the LAV25 or BTR apcs or even the
Stryker vehicles. What would also kick butt would be a jeep style vehicle
mounting heavy weapons (APSW,
AGL, GMS, or the new towed/tripod mounted guns).

I'd also like to see some soft skinned vehicles (wheeled to GRAV)
Wheeled and Tracked.
I just don't like the looks of grav or hover vehicles that much.

5 - 15mm versions of the deimos variants from the FW line!
A recurring theme I've read on this list is that people like to match their
vehicles across scales.

Would I buy all of the things here? Probably not. But I still think they are
great ideas! I would also love to see the AV6 in 15mm, with room for troops
inside and door gunner options.

http://lists.csua.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/gzg-lI'd love to see it
all. I'd love to see some "realistic" bipedal walkers. To call them "mecha" is
to invite the stigma of the anime look. Though anime has produced some nice
machines, I'd love to see something that looks like it actually rolled out of
an earthly factory.

I fin the DP9 Gears pretty close to that. It's what I use for my walkers. I'm
looking for something to compliment these, which Jon's multi legged ones do,
since they're a bit different.
2) Wheeled vehicles
I should state here that I'd like to see Jon's 25mm/6mm stuff done in
15mm. I've been waiting for that to happen ever since I started to get into
15mm. Specifically the PALADIN and PHALANX. I'd buy a platoon of each right
off the bat.

Funny I was thinking the same thing albiet for 6mm or 2mm Just took these pics
from the workbench, more earthly style or still to Anime?

Well I'm still tinkering with them, and that was the first time your or anyone
else has seen them:)
But on a more serious note I do think there is some room for more realistic
walkers (contradiction in terms for some of you I know). I'm currently playing
PC game "Battlefield 2142" which has walkers in it like this:

Those would also look good as 15mm "human" sized combat robots ;-)

5 Ooooh yeah. I'd like to see something a little sleeker like the grave tanks
seen in Traveller.

2 I'd like the one's that you produced if you made them a little bulkier. The
legs on the current crop ar a bit too spindley for my taste.

5 I'd love to see, HEAVY suits of powered armor ala the combat walkers from
2300 AD.
