For what it's worth, I contacted them and started a discussion. I asked
for some very specific details - existing inventory, sales records,
contracts/relationships with vendors (for packaging, casting, making
masters, etc.) and a bit more.
Haven't heard back.

Thanks, John. Do keep us appraised of further developements, though I wouldn't
be surprised if one of our favorite Euro manufacturers wasn't
already in talks. ;->= (No specially knowledge, but I assume 'no
details' means SOMEBODY with experience is chatting.)
For what it's worth, tell 'em it'll save the rest of us rattling their cage to
deal with you.
I just picked up a couple of fleet boxes on eBay for none-to-dear, but
have to admit neither was, in my taste, the most interesting of the line.

Damn. Good thing I bought a couple of fleet boxes last year. Might have to
pick up a few more before the end. I have a bunch of Kharadorn and have to say
I'm pretty happy with the sculpts. They've replaced my B5 stuff as my
favourate sculpts.

I did make enquiries myself as soon as this was first posted on TMP a few
weeks back, just to see what kind of money was being talked about; I got a
very quick response, but the sort of figures being
discussed (which I'm not going to talk about on-list for obvious
reasons) didn't make it look economically attractive or viable to me
- basically it seemed a lot of money for little more than rights to
the designs and the masters; if the deal had included production moulds and
such it might have looked more feasible, but all these appear to be held by a
third party contract caster and thus are not included in the sale. After
careful consideration, I decided to pass.

Probably would have to agree with you; I obviously read more into the
announcement than was there.
Thanks for sharing that much.
Do hope it works for someone; at least, I will until I have a look at my new
fleets. Darn sweet in pictures.

We came to a similar conclusion - our other major worry was adding to
the line. To get any new models to match with existing ones would really
require them to be designed in the same way, which means investing in and
learning how to use 3D CAD tools and that's another major expense.

Yep, and I want him to finish his current project, 15mm Vehicles including
some civilian ones....

This probably was to be expected. Your time with styrene and his time with a
CAD program being equal he would still want to recoup some of the 3d printing
costs. Add to that the design work by John Bear Ross and costs will start to
add up. The above remark about productions moulds makes things even more
unappetising. You would want ironclad garantees that these production moulds
will be destroyed when you buy the rights.
All in all, sigh:-)
