Hello all,
I need to get a few photos together for an article/interview that is
being written up for one of the wargames mags; I can deal with the product
photos side of things, but what I've been specifically asked for is a couple
of pics of:
a) our GZG tradestand at any UK show (ideally within the last 2-3
years rather than older ones), preferably with me and/or my show
helper(s) in shot - a wide shot of the whole stand would be nice, but
equally some close-ups of parts of the stand could be useful - and :
b) a pic or two of games actually being played, not necessarily with
GZG rules but certainly with our figures/vehicles/ships.
It doesn't matter where the games were held, they could be UK or US
shows, GZG-ECC events, or simply club nights - but they need to show
a reasonably attractive game setup, space or ground actions, using all or
mostly our miniatures on the table. Games actually using Full Thrust, Dirtside
or Stargrunt would be nice, but I'd also be happy with shots of ones using any
of the rules sets that I try to support
- for example Gruntz, Tomorrow's War, Hammer's Slammers, Future War
Commander etc.
The only other requirement is that they need to be good quality photos in a
high enough resolution to permit magazine printing, and
obviously I'll need your permission to use them - I will try to get a
printed credit if possible (if you wish one of course), but since I won't have
control over the final printing I can't guarantee that.
The deadline is a little tight I'm afraid, I really need to get something
together in the next day or two (I would have done this yesterday, but we were
off power for over 24 hours due to the
storms....)
If anyone out there can help with either or both, it would be very,
very much appreciated! :-)
Best,

THere are hosts of photos on the GZG ECC site showing GZG minis. I can try to
dig some of those up tomorrow and email them to you (I've got an archive of
the ones I shot over the years)

Hi Jon - I've got a few pictures in this gallery on Flickr that are of a
Full Thrust game in play at a convention. http://flic.kr/s/aHsj7R46o5
This gallery has a few 25mm figures in play:

I've got a few more from a game this summer that I should try and get posted
as well.
Let me know if any of those might work.

Hi Jon,
I hope you can let us know which magazine it is, when it's published -
I'd love to see the finished article.
Cheers, Paul

Agreed I am looking forward to picking up the issue. I am betting its in Field
and Fowl magazine but am not willing to lay money on it.
It must be important I sent it

It's being written by John Treadaway as an interview/profile on me
and GZG for (hopefully) publication in Miniature Wargames; no idea which issue
it will be in, that will depend entirely on the mag's
editor and when he decides to run it, but if/when I get a heads-up on
it I'll let you all know.

I've not seen anyone else mention this yet - but the article is in the
January issue of Miniature Wargames and well worth a read. I picked up a copy
in WHSmiths at the weekend. I'd totally forgotten about this mail thread, so
it was a pleasant surprise to see the interview. GZG also got a mention in
another article in the mag too, with some figures reviewed.

Thanks for posting, Paul - yes, sorry all, I've been so busy with the
pre-and post-Xmas stuff that I forgot to mention that it had come
out.... ;-)
Thanks again to those of you who helped out with photos, I'm sorry that only a
couple of the submitted ones got used in the end but I had no control over it,
the choice of pics was down to the mag editor. Hope the article is of some
interest at least!

After reading the interview I have one question for you, Jon: What can we do
to help get you a six month holiday?:)
> textfilter: chose text/plain from a multipart/alternative
Heheh..... wondered when someone would ask that!
Errr.... give me enough money to live on for those six months, while also
keeping the rest of GZG going so people don't forget it
exists...? (they're a fickle and short-memoried lot out there)!
<GRIN> Oh, and go to the shows so that I don't lose my regular tradestand
spots and so that people don't start thinking I'm dead, and field all the
emails asking about when we'll do more new things, and moaning that we still
haven't done pictures of old things, and so on...and
on...and on ...... see the problem? ;-)

Jon
LOL, being loved is great isn't it?
Don
p.s. if I hit the Lotto I'll get at least a half million dollar order, that
should give you at least 30 days...)
p.s-s. holding your breath on this one is not advisable.....

For those of us on the other side of the pond, what options/venues would
we be able to pursue to see the article? Or would a kind soul over there like
to scan it into a pdf and post somewhere for the rest of us? :-)

Indy,
The article is in issue 369 of Miniature Wargames with Battlegames. It's
an interview with Jon by John Treadaway.

Thanks, Tasmin, now to find out if it's even over here (I don't do magazines
much anymore, never have any time to read them regular like)

Indy,
You're welcome. Best bet might be to try On Military Matters on your
side of the pond - they have it listed for sale.

Look for a line that says "page" with an entry box and "go", the line at the
bottom of the page worked while the top line did not. If you enter each page
individually and hit go, it will take you to a larger, readable image. Martin

After many attempts, it actually broke down for me on the entry at the top:)
