Outrim Coalition (ORC) fleet: FT 1201 Outrim Coalition (ORC) Fighter (sculpted
by Oerjan Ariander) 1.00 for 6

Sa'Vasku fleet: (Sculpted by Dave Garnham, creator of the original S'V minis

"Superdreadnought" 10.00 each

.....................................

New Merchants, Freighters etc:

FT 331 Insystem Cargo Hauler ("tractor unit" plus 15-pod
container train) 3.00 each
FT 331A Tractor unit only (with stand) - makes a good yard
tug! 1.00 each FT 331B Container train only (may be used to extend 331) 2.50
each FT 332 Modular Heavy Freighter with 3 x Tanker Modules 6.00 each FT 332A
Tanker module only 1.50 each FT 333 Modular Heavy Freighter with 3 x Cargo Box

only 1.50 each FT 336 Princess class Passenger Starliner 5.00 each

All parts of the new 332/333 modular freighters, plus those of the 331
hauler, use the same systemof locating pegs as used on all our
UNSC ship range and several other parts of the newer FT fleets - this
means
that you can mix-and-match parts across different fleets in many cases,
giving your merchants even more variety or making auxiliary vessels for your
military forces (for example, the 332A and 333A new cargo modules will fit the
drive and command sections of the FT1116 UNSC fleet tender, and conversely the
modules from the FT 1116 may be used with the new FT
334/335
freighter sections. The cargo pod "train" from FT331 may also be fitted with a
suitable "bridge" and drive unit to make an excellent longhaul container ship;
the possibilities are endless!).

........................................

New Modular Space Station System:

A system of linking components for making up small space installations, great
for scientific outposts, research stations, small space factories etc. More
sections to come soon, including weapon and sensor modules for defensive
installations, command modules, extension links and other specialised bits.
The connectors between the modules are the same as for the new merchant range
above, so again you can mix and match parts as you wish!

FT 361 Basic "workshack" small station kit (1 x power module, 1 x docking
module, 1 x storage tank module, 2 x GP modules,1 x junction module with
stand) 5.00 complete

366 Junction connector module with stand (metal post) 1.00 each FT 366A
Junction connector modules (2), no stands 1.00 for 2.

Watch out for more space installation components soon!

I have to say that I don't care for the new NAC designs. They are too much of
a departure from the old NAC designs for my taste. I liked the cleaner lines
of the older ships. I don't like the tubes or the big drum bits on these new
ones.

I guess I should be thankful, as I now won't have to go and expand my NAC
fleet.

Thanks, Allan, as I was beginning to fear I was the only one. Still sounds
like we're in the minority, a matter of taste of course, and the older designs
CAN be a pain to keep the snouts from dropping off...

As a dedicated ESU flyer, when I get the chance, and chances are improving
in my neck, I'm also less fond of the new ESU's. The drooped-neck
foreparts so prevelant in the IJN seemed like something I'd have preferred
staying there. I should have guessed when I saw them in other fleets.

Still, may just be a question of time and adjusting to new forms. I'll have to
give 'em a look; in person, and painted, may change my opinion.

Must say I find the S's smashing! I'll have to keep my daughter away from that
new SDN; looks entirely TOO much like a menacing giant spider.

They look really like a new strain in the SaVasku genetic stock. Attack
Cruiser seems like a radical new type as it resembles more the "normal" ships,
but I really like it.

Funny, I thought 'Hey! Tech sharing with Phalons?' ;->=

I rather like them, but I agree that they've lost a bit of the NAC feel.

Something I don't necessarily like to see is how certain design elements are
showing up on many of the newer ships from multiple factions. Like the
"louvers" in various locations usually near the engines, or the bits
that look like half-embedded cylinders with rounded ends...

Granted, PSB can completely explain it, and the models look quite good, but
the fleets lose their distinctiveness on the table when they share design
elements like that.

The new sculpts are great. Lots of detail and crisp features.

I do worry that the various fleets will lose their individual flavor but this
has yet to happen. As an NSL player, I found the new NSL designs fit in. They
looked more advanced, but if modern naval vessels can go through substantial
cosmetic changes in a couple of decades now days in peacetime, I imagine that
in the hostile times that the GZG universe takes place in, advances would come
even faster and design philosophies might change.

I like the new KV ships much more than the old ones.

I agree with a recent poster, however, that too many fleets seem to be getting
"canned" features. This may be sculptor's style creeping in.

Anyhow. Still damned fine products, but let's keep the familiar faces on the
various fleets, please.

I've been thinking something similar. The small ships in my Japanese fleet
look like some of the ESU, especially near the front. Some of the bigger ships
are similar with the two level look and the way the engines are.

I think that if the new NSL ships follow the new Lutzow destroyer style with

I'll probably buy a pile of them.

With the really small ships like scouts it might be difficult though to get
really distinctive styles.

That being said, it is all a matter of taste though. I have piles of NSL,
Kra'vak, UNSC and Japanese as I really like these. I also have one of the New
Israeli megafleets. These are really nice sculpts with a distinctive style
from the other fleets that I have, but I doubt that I'll want the same amount
of ships as I have of the other fleets. I also bought some of the ORC ships
for a small raider fleet, but somehow these are a bit too flat for my tastes.
As for the FSE, NAC and ESU. Somehow these just aren't my cup of tea.

Okay, since you asked...

I don't like how the teardrop front section of the NAC ship has been obscured
with bits sticking out of it. The original NAC ships had a clean, streamlined
teardrop section. The new ones, with bits sticking
out, seem almost to be a throw back to an _older_ design, not a later
design. It's hard to tell, in some shots, that it's even a teardrop shape.

The surface of the NAC teardrops were always fairly smooth, though
with a lot of detail. The new ship has cylinders and what-not on the
surface. I prefer the flatter, smoother look. FT107 has some cylinders on it,
but on the main hull, not on the teardrop. Again, it looks like it's going
backwards, not forwards, in design philosophy.

In the older designs, the engine nacelles were attached near the rear of the
vessel. The new ship has them attached amidships. The nacelles at the rear of
the ship are one of the features that distinguish NAC ships, at least in my
mind. I don't like the nacelle connection being moved forward like it is.

The "neck" leading to the teardrop is too big, though I understand folks had a
problem with the slender necks on the old ships.

Are those pods on either side engine nacelles? The old NAC ships had
cylindrical, or truncated cone, shaped engine outlet on the back. The new ship
has something that looks like that way in the centre, but the nacelles have
two squared off bits at the back. They look like engines in the photo, but if
so I would have preferred them to be rounded like the older engines.

I echo what others have said: FT138 doesn't look like a NAC ship. The two
things I really don't like are the nacelles attached amidships and the
"clutter" on the teardrop.

No, I really don't like that new NAC ship. If that's the route the NAC ships
are going, I'll stick with what I've got.

I've been thinking off and on about getting another fleet. I might do that
instead of expanding the NAC and FSE fleets I have.

These days, though, I've been too busy with RPGs and testing my Call of
Cthulhu miniatures rules. Hopefully I'll have some more playtesting time this
weekend. In my "next stuff to paint" pile are several fantasy figures and a
bunch of historicals, so it's pretty easy to put
off buying more sci-fi stuff.
