Greetings all - I'm new to the list and had a few questions. If I make
any mistakes (in format or whatever) please let me know.
I have DSII and just bought SGII. As a Californian, I'm
intrigued/amused by the inclusion of Free Cal-Tex in the "official"
universe.
-Is there more information about this state in FT? I don't want to buy
another book just for a bit of fluff.
-Is there other info on this state (history, government, military tech
and OOB, etc)?
-Has anyone gotten the Cal-Tex infantry? How are they, quality-wise?
-If Free Cal-Tex hasn't been fleshed out, what are the odds Tuffley & co
would be willing to accept suggestions from fans? I already have a flag
planned out, and some OOB/doctrine ideas...:)
> I have DSII and just bought SGII. As a Californian,
Heck, I jus' figured that it was a natural progression of events from today.
The survival of the fittest and all that.
I just figured Texas took over the entire Western hemisphere and then decided
to be it was too much trouble running the whole show and that we would be nice
and give it all back...except California. We never could
forgive them for the '70s (and disco!)... ;-)

Ah.
Well, I'd assumed that (as you said, in a natural progression of events from
today) Northern California subjugated SoCal by threatening to cut off the
water supply, and then lived in peace (except when all those other countries
tried to interfere with our serene and sophisticated lifestyle):)
Actually, I am curious about FCT's fluff ("official" background info). Reading
various pages, I came across a reference to the FCT flag being red and blue
with a white star (?) but nothing about OOB or technology or doctrine or
anything.
I would think that FCT would have high tech, especially EW (thanks to Silicon
Valley) along with a lot of infantry (big population). Ethnically, it'd be a
mix of Latino and Anglo, mostly.
Is FCT contiguous (does it include part of New Mexico)? or is it cut in half?
Any history of wars with the LLAR?
[origins of FCT]

As an expatriate Californian, I take exception to that. Everyone knows disco
was New York's fault. I admit LA was responsible for a lot of bad
glam-metal in the 80s, but I won't take the rap for disco (no pun
intended).
Anyhow, does FCT have particular national design criteria involving Big Hair
or surfboards, maybe? Is "Free" Cal-Tex actually independent of NAC, or
is it an autonomous region within it?

It's a wide open frontier. You FCT-lovers should hook and put all that
info
together and submit it to the GZG-Pedia. Thinking up the history, OBs
and tech is

Welcome to the list!
Be sure to sign up for the GZG-Pedia list, where the GZG future history
is (sometimes) discussed.

How do I do that?

Cruise around the Full Thrust web ring, and visit the FT computer core? I
think that's got a pointer to it from there. Anyway the web ring "list" option
should be able to show you where it is. Look for it from here:

Hope that helps!

there are some mentions in the timeline, which is online at:

and there is more in the text of the history section; i don't own sg2, so i
don't know how much overlap there is. i also don't know what's in the fleet
book (a supplement to ft2).
incidentally, i'd strongly advise buying ft2 - it's a great game. joooin

the odds are excellent. in fact, the mechanics are already in place. your
first step would be to join the GZGPedia list (as has been suggested and
detailed); your next step would be to get in touch with the people who have
already got to work on the FCT; my best information says that these

I think I've got my hands full with my burgeoning 25mm and 6mm SF forces, not
to mention the 15mm historicals I've been abandoning recently.
Plus I'm writing my own space combat rules....(heresy, I know - oh great
Jon, forgive me my trespasses):)
