If there are no plans, somebody there should come up with one. For
that matter, how are the Squad/Platoon (Stargrunt II) and
Platoon/Company (Dirtside II) sets coming along? (You could have a
deluxe Dirtside II set which includes the landing craft...)

I bought JT's special packs which is a battle cruiser/ship and
escorts (6 ships) and carrier and escorts (5 ships). These are a good deal and
cheaper than buying singletons.

DS II forces - starter forces per side - 2 gev tank platoons
2 gev APC platoons + infanty, 2 VTOLS, 1 artillery battery, Command
element, 2 area defence vehicles, 3 scout vehicles, 2 super heavy tanks, 2
combat

walkers.

This lets you play with most of the rules but the forces aren't huge.

> Also, what type of Dice collections do you guys have?

Die collectors aren't normal:)
D6 about 50+, D4-D20 about 10 of each type.

> Seems all this isn' t needed if all we do is PBeM

I think some GM's do roll the die - GM's...

We reckon on around three-four platoons (each of between 3 and 5
vehicles)
each side for a smallish game, which is about Company/Squadron level.
Maybe a couple of platoons each of armour and mechanised infantry, then add
supporting arms as you go.
> Also, what type of Dice collections do you guys have?

LOTS!

[Dice.... dice, gimme MORE DICE, gotta have dice.....]

Seriously, I never knew a gamer (Minis or RPG) who didn't have a fetish for
collecting dice, whether they needed them or not....
> What is normal?

For SGII or DSII, ideally you want a couple of sets (D4-D12) per player
-
that way you won't have to keep swapping dice and hunting for the right one.
> I've cleaned out about every where local , but that has yielded only

I'm surprised that you are having trouble, given the apparent popularity of
RPGs over there. Try some US or UK mail-order suppliers for some
polyhedral sets (we even stock them ourselves now!)

Is there anything like this in the US? I'm putting Full Thrust ships on my
birthday list, but as I look at the prices on the Geohex page, and how many of
those are a single ship per blister, I'm wishing I could get a fleet at a
better price. And that's with the assumption that I'll use mail order and get
a 30% discount.

The battle I was just in last week (admittedly on the high end of the
scale) had about about 45-50 ships per side. But then, I game with
some well paid consumers...

I'm a stargrunt guy.... and I have about 120 Marines and other figs and a few
vehicles purchased in a mass at one point.

> Also, what type of Dice collections do you guys have?

est approx 300-320 total well mixed. Seem to have more d12s than
anyone could ever need.

Note, I'm probably not normal.

No, I'm an 'overkill' gamer. Heck, one can have fun in RPGs with a few friends
and only a dice or two. (Sometimes none at all). With wargames, a few dice and
either counters or figures are mandated, but collecting is a habit and your
collection grows over time, or such has been my experience.

I stopped counting at 300 models :-/ Only a hundred or so are painted,
though :-(

40 or so D6 (since they come in almost every boxed game), 15D10 (Starfire
player :-), 5D20 (doubling as D10, of course), 1D30, 8D8, 5D12, 4D4, 2
average dice and some GW dice. The only ones I've bought separately are some
of the D10 and the D30; the rest came with various games I've bought over the
years.

> What is normal?

I have several friends with more dice than I. For long-time gamers I
suppose that's normal...

In the last three face-to-face games I've played we have used
about 15, 20, and 7 ships per side.
> Also, what type of Dice collections do you guys have?

I have a huge amount, couple thousand, of dice that I've been collecting since
the late 70's. For Full Thrust I have around 10 d6.

Enjoy,

Hi all,

How many Full Thrust minis do you goes usually use in a typical FT game? I
have 2 forces of around 8 ships each, mostly small stuff.

I also have Dirtside II ( but have never played it!).What are ' starter',
typical forces for that too? I have hover tanks and Heavy tanks from geohex,
and infantry and GEVs from Ral Partha, but have been doing Ogre stuff with it.

Also, what type of Dice collections do you guys have?

What is normal?

I've cleaned out about every where local, but that has yielded only about 4
dice each of d4 to d20! D6 are easy to find, and go for around 100yen
for 6 here, and I must be sad, as I have 30!

Seems all this isn' t needed if all we do is PBeM ( and simple kids stuff and
solo for myself)!

Thanks

Approx. between 4 and 24 on a side. I own 6 separate fleets: ESU and NAC
fleets consisting of 2 Geo-hex packs of each of the available ships; a
large Star Trek Federation fleet consisting of about 30 of the old FASA figs.
A small fleet (about a dozen of each) of the Klingons and Romulans. A large
fleet of the old Star Frontiers Sather ships (I lucked into 5
boxes of the ships at $8 each). Only the GZG/Geo-hex stuff is painted.

My DSII is a hodgepodge of fig manufacturers, and none is painted yet. One
army is based on the GW Eldar figs I own as well as a ton of
anti-grav
vehicles from the Renegade Legion plastic packs. The other is a mix of GW
Imperial/Space Marine, OGRE minis, GZGs, and Battletech minis which I
also use in their original systems.

> Also, what type of Dice collections do you guys have?

I have a brick of 50 or so black dice I use for FT and enough dice for each of
the systems I play. I generally buy or set aside dice for each game I play so
I can just grab and run and not carry around a big bag of dice. I do have the
pleasure of owning 96 distinct pairs of percentile dice (an 0 and 00 pair)
from my Rolemaster days. That is NOT normal!

Isn't that ROLLmaster? (roftl)

I think anyone who has microarmour in any amount can easily add GZG DS2 grav
and hover vehicles and have interesting campaigns.

If you define Magic, as RPG, then yes, it does seem to be everywhere, but the
Dice aren't. A local toy store ( with a huge CCG display) has a few. a plain
one is like 180yen, the metal flake is like 220yen each. I visited Yellow
Submarine in Shinjuku Tokyo a few weeks ago and there they had some dice. Also
a few tubes of MEGADICE from the Armory. They also had CHELSEA (?) dice with
d4 to d20 in speckled finish in little clear cases for only 1,100 each(!).
