I'm curious, Oerjan, as to who 'they' are? Most of us have mentioned we're
talking local groups or national conventions. What is your sample base? Is
this your experience with folks moving to Starfire, of which I've NO
experience?

Unfortunately the use of handles other than your real name often makes it
difficult to tell exactly who a person is on the 'net :-(

No. As far as I know Starfire and Full Thrust don't compete with each other
- while both are space combat games the former is a rather
background-specific campaign game while the other is a generic tactical
game, so they fill quite different niches.
