I've been noticing lately just how many 'bad' links are on web sites. It's the
kind of thing you expect for something as long running as Ground Zero games,
but I'm concerned that bad linkage hinders newbie interest, and a little
effort on each of us to point out need updates to web masters only helps their
content, and our desire to share.
For instance, the venerable Unofficial Full Thrust WWW Page isn't dead, though
we've not heard from Mark in quite awhile. It's merely moved, as will happen.
Old:

New:
http://www.homegame.org/siefert/uftwwwp/
Still, I think there are more links to the former rather than the latter. I
just put in a request at TMP to do an update, but plenty of smaller sites of
devoted fans could stand the revision.
Frits, are you listening? ;->=

Webmasters out there may appreciate Xenu:

It's a freeware automated links checker that will check your website for
both internal and external links. I run a sweep over my sites every so often
and it's surprising how many odd bad links or missing files I catch, even on a
site I think is sound.

I improved things a bit and will upload ASAP. Anybody have any idea where Tom
Anderson's Royal Dutch Commonwealth went? I seem to remember trying to track
it down some time ago without any success. Bit of a shame as it sort of links
in with my tiny bit of background.
All I can find, so far, is the Encyclopedia Galactica entry:

Not that I've more than scratched the surface, tho.

Which unfortunately contains the same dead link. He had a pretty nice website
with a lot of info.
I think I found it in the wayback machine:

8/gzg/nl/
I'll see whether I can rip it out of there.

Ok, the RDC is now on my webpage. I don't have all the pictures, including the
stellar cartography, but all the text is there.
Everything has been slightly edited to update links and such.
Above and beyond the call; well done!

Could it be 'A map of Dutch space'?

Unfortunately this one is forwindows.
Under Linux(at least Debian) you could use 'linkchecker'.

The RDC map should be in a file called 'map.gif'. Sigh:-) It is
451x631 pixels big and I suspect it is a cut-out of the 'lower left'
map.

For small sites, http://validator.w3.org/checklink can work,
though you can download it and run it yourself (which probably gets rid of the
page limit).
There is of course the whole suite of w3c validation tools at:
http://validator.w3.org/
And for Mac fanciers, there's Link Checker http://www.dotsw.com/
linkchecker.html
It's a free download. Full version US$20.00

Sorry. I do realise that the same plug-in won't work for both!
