http://lists.csua.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/gzg-lI'm starting to
think about my next project and am thinking about Japan for SG in 15. I've
collected a number of infantry packs over the years and have just bought a
number of legged vehicles during the GZG christmas special that seem to suit a
Japanese theme. It occurred to me while pawing over my new goodies that I've
never seen much in the way of ground pounders for Japan, only the 25mm photos
on the GZG website. They appear to be done in gray, silver, and a bit of red
on the helmet. Anyone else done up any Japanese? Thoughts on color schemes for
infantry and vehicles?
My first thought would be a light blue-gray for uniforms with a gray
urban camo on the vehicles, but Id really appreciate some alternative schemes,
especially if they've already been something you've tried. Thanks! Martin

Ninja black!

http://lists.csua.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/gzg-lIf you are
interested in a more samurai look, perhaps for the hard armor parts, the
classic colors for samurai armor are glossy black or a reddish brown. Details
can be of just about any color, but the belts should be white. Repeating
prints, particulaly of flowers or other japanese heraldic
objects are common - in 15mm scale these would probably just show up as
dots
or faint patches of color. I could also envision a 3-D holographic
banner or staff or even holographic sashimono on each soldier.

I did 25mm Japanese.
I painted them in a chocolate brown and a beige two tone. This was based on
the figures that GeoHex had available at GenCon.

suggestions!
Maybe I can mix them both in for infantry and powersuits. Since the Japanese
armor is somewhat exaggerated (suggestive of the historical composite armor
and flared helmet), I just don't want the paint job to
be too cartoony. The sculpt could easily lead to a GW-ish paint job.
Gack!
I'll follow Binhan's line of thinking and pull out my samurai references
books.
Just surprised nobody else seems to be using Japan. Seems all the fans stick
to FT fleets.

Regards,
I have a small unit of both standard and power armored troops in 15mm painted
black with steel highlights. Did these to match my Star Wars Imperial Infantry
in that flared Samurai like helmet of theirs. This is my Composite Naval
Infantry company. All the vehicles are painted similarly.
