I installed Shiptool on my iMac yesterday. I am running OS/X (Tiger),
which is Unix-based, so installing Shiptool was essentially much the
same as doing it under Linux, FreeBSD etc. If anyone is interested, I could
post the steps, links etc. but it would be geek city, so is there some more
appropriate forum?

*ahem* You probably should have included a pointer to that page...

http://firedrake.org/roger/

Or even to the software...

http://firedrake.org/roger/ft/shiptool.html

Truth be, I've not tried it yet, but not for a lack of admonitions from those
who have.

Is this the software you installed, Mr.Bryett?

Yes that is the Shiptool I installed. Is there another in the GZG context?

I'm pretty sure I've seen other attempts, but can't recall particulars off the
top of my head, and nothing announced recently. I've been on the list
since the mid 90's, so 'recently' tends to go back a-ways.

I'm sure Mr.Burton West would appreciate you giving him your installation
'geek speak', and will make you famous by posting it to his web site.

Um, speaking of shiptool instructions: Would someone tell the idiot (me) where
the cloak is?

I was recreating some old ship designs and I can't find the cloaking device...

And speaking of ship designs: Since Jon made all the books available in pdf
form can we pass around shiptool files of all the Standard ships now?

The 2.5 fleetbooks aren't free PDF, only the 2.0 rulebooks, so that would
probably be a no.

Actually, FB1 and FB2 are available in free PDFs:

I don't use it so I didn't add it. Ditto the reflex field.

The newer better ship editing program (which I haven't worked on for a while
but I may finish some day) lets you add files for new ship systems...

> And speaking of ship designs: Since Jon made all the books available

I have them, but I'd want an explicit OK from Jon before I made them
available.
