Hi folks,
I read this article recently, but can't remember where I first saw a link to
it. If it was on this list and I'm repeating stuff, my apologies! If it wasn't
on this list, I thought it would interest folks...

Yeah, someone posted about this (can't remember who) last week or so. My "Bad
Astronomy" instincts tell me it's bunk. I dug around a little, couldn't find
anything else out about it, so we'll see what we'll see in a few years when
the proposed prototype comes into existence (or not).

I talked to a friend of mine who's a pretty serious astronomy fan, he says
they were discussing it in the Physics Form and yeah, most folks are dubious.
Apparently even if he's right, the amount of energy needed to create the kind
of electromagnetic fields needed to make
this work are insane -- as he put it, "you'd need a black hole".
