textfilter: chose text/plain from a multipart/alternative
Hi All!
I put together a step-by-step build-up and conversion of the GZG Fan Van
from using VTOLs to using GZG small grav plates:

Please let me know what you think, and if you'd like to see any changes to the
format!
Thanks,

They look nice and sleek. The big plates looked too bulky? The top looks a bit
bare, maybe add a small wire antenna somewhere?

Great job, Harold, a very nice conversion.... the big question is, would
anyone like to see something like this produced as an actual
production variant to the fan-lifter version?

Hi Jon,
Thanks...it's a great model and I enjoyed converting it
If you made a set of the small grav plates with instead of a post a 45' female
post coupler that could be used with the fan van without altering the rest of
the kit.

...very cool. Agree, look like militarized shuttles. Neat.

Jon, I think if you did something like this you would have a winner.
You could go so far as to make a totally new vehicle in the Star Trek style
that this conversion evokes.

Now THAT is a great idea.... if I did so, should the grav plates be a LITTLE
bit larger (a new "medium" size, between our small and large types), or do
folks think the small ones suit the vehicle OK? I think your conversions look
great, Harold, but I'm tempted to go just a bit bigger on the gravs....

I think you're right about a mid size one. I almost went with the large size,
but it was a little too big. I like how the little ones look, but they get a
little lost on the model

With slightly bigger grav plates this would be a nice addition to your range.
The tricky question is : mid-size plates with the same mounting as the
current grav plates (to make thinsg consistent with the rest of your range)
and an extra coupling bit?
Or mid-size plates specifically for the fanvan?

I can do both quite easily - first the one with the "standard" type
mounting ("male" peg), then after casting that I can modify the master to make
one with the correct angle of "female" socket to suit the grav van. Actually,
having them mounting on the pegs on the van chassis will allow them to be
modelled slightly swivelled backward for "thrust", if you like to think of the
repulsion field working perpendicular to the plate..... (we're getting into
the field of handwavium science here, so we can just do whatever looks coolest
on the model!).
Great plan.
Now can you get it and the new UN hard suits out before end of February
please?
Then I can get even more stuff using my Christmas discount voucher.

Provided the masters arrive with me on schedule, there should be 3
packs (at least) of UNSC/H very shortly, as promised....

I would like plug-ins for covering the wheel wells; make it a proper
shuttle.
Ubiquitous rare earth magnets if you want it convertible.
But, I'm a cock-eyed dreamer.
