So here I am working on some new ship designs and as I was making a Sa'vasku
carrier I got to thinking.

This thing starts at 144 mass. But in launching its drones drops 60 of
that mass. Now you have what is an 84 mass ship which is 1/3 more
efficient in thrust ratings.

Be nice to have another 2 thrust charts for breaks in thrust power
requirements. ;-)

I know it's for game simplicity not to have it.

If you were going to do that, then shouldn't you also modify ships like DDs
with SMRs or SMLs once the "tubes" are empty? What about normal carriers that
have all of their fighters launched? Mass is mass, but overall I think that I
prefer to keep things simple.:)

Yes, but generally the launching ship doesn't drop enough mass to matter.

One caveat with Heavy Missiles: they're Mass 2, but only Mass 1 gets launched,
the rest is rack and controls and such.

If there was a substantial enough mass drop I think that should happen. Though
the mass that needs to drop to effectively change the thrust rating is very
high.

The only way to drop enough mass to change thrust rating if you have
things like an ftl carrier delivering non-ftl cruisers and such.

However, a tin can filled with 'more thrust' missiles might do the trick as
well.

Well if you want here's the stats for it ;-) I'm not saying it's a good
design, it's just an idea (my usual designs are 94 mass but I have a model of
this size).

Mass: 144 Cost: 451 Power: 32 Hull: 74 Hullrows: 4 Armour: 6 Stinger Node: F
FS FP Drone Womb Drone Womb Drone Womb Drone Womb Drone Womb Cortex Node FTL:

In comparison my current "standard cruiser" looks like this:

Mass: 94 Cost: 301 Power: 32 Hull: 30 Hullrows: 4 Armour: 7 Stinger Node: F FS
AS Stinger Node: F AP FP Pod Launcher Node: F Pod Launcher Node: F Drone Womb
Cortex Node Cortex Node Cortex Node FTL: Normal
