With the talk of playtesting, I have a question that I hope is old enough to
be answered: Between FT2 and FB1, level 3 screens were eliminated from the
game. Why?

They were too effective against beams (and other weapons using beam dice).
Level 2 screens already cause some difficulties to the game balance between
beams and P-torps; level-3 screens made those difficulties about an
order of magnitude worse, allowing far too much scope for munchkinism and
min-maxing.
