Hello I think all this talk about the GZG-Ency. is great. I've allways
loved the game and have wanted somebody to put more info out on the game. Well
instead of just sitting back and lurking I thought I'd put forth my
couple of brain cells and help out. So I need to know.
1. Who is assigning tasks? 2. Is there a central depository for knowledge yet,
if so where? 3. Is there a plan of action for what gets done in what order? 4.
How do I get involved?
Please email me with answers.
Thanks Keep Gaming.

well, i think jerry han is the head man on this. i think he's currently
revving up, and will soon start to produce orders, etc.
> 2. Is there a central depository for knowledge yet, if so where?
well, jerry han has the central point at:
http://people.canoe.ca/jhan/ft/gzgpedia/
but it's currently a placeholder. nyrath has the maps at:
http://www.clark.net/pub/nyrath/ft/ftmapmain.html
and that's got some stuff. john atkinson has a list of unofficial powers
somewhere, right john? and i have a list of unofficial powers at:
http://users.ox.ac.uk/~univ0938/gzg/cyc-list.txt
which is somewhat comprehensive and complete. i'm still waiting on addresses
for some of these things. if people want to mosey on over and verify that
their details are included, complete and correct, that'd be
nice. if they want to send me a 100-word abstract of their nation,
that'd be even better.
speaking of which, if rob "jurassic" paul has any info on his dreaded space
scots, it would be welcome.
> 3. Is there a plan of action for what gets done in what order?
jerry han should be working on it :-). i think the idea was to get
something, no matter how small, by random action, following which people will
be assigned to work on bits of it. i think the consensus for organisation is
that the encyclopedia will be divided into a section for each nation, with
each section having subsections for history, politics, military organisation,
etc.
> 4. How do I get involved?
you just did! right, mr crimmins, issue this man with one html editor,
privates for the use of, one style guide, one contact list...
seriously, though, i think the work will start to appear soon. meanwhile, if
you want to have a crack at hunting down addresses for some of the powers on
my list which lack them, or even write some abstracts for them,
that would be fantastic (and would guarantee your place in gzg-l
history!
:-).

Hi!
Yeah, I'm reving up, and waiting for the establishment of the GZGPedia List;
I'm talking to Matthew 'Mailing List Demi God' Seidl about it.
I'm interim head man; I'll do it until somebody kicks me out. (8-)

Pretty well. I'm still collecting my thoughts, but the first step in my
mind was to gather together a pseudo-index that we could work from,
and then go from there. I'll know more when I get back to work on Monday.
(All my stuff is being co-ordinated out of work, including my
conversation with Matt, plus all my notes...)
Monday, things should start to roll a bit.
Thanks,
J.

compartmentalisation! you work on a need-to-know basis, mr atkinson.
duplication is good, to some extent. what you miss, i catch, and vice versa.
actually, your list is entirely novel powers; ones that were not mentioned in
the canon. brian's list is of official powers. mine is of all the known powers
(sort of). however, mine is just a list of links at present, whereas yours has
details. it's all sort of complementary.

makes sense, given your somewhat liberal revision of the background :-).
seriously, though, i feel the Gzglverse should have the NRE in it
somewhere; they're too detailed (and well-publicised) a nation to miss
out. i don't suppose we could persuade you to write one or two more
humiliating defeats and attacks of human weakness into your history?

That's linked to my page as well.:)

Nah... not necessary. And would take too much work (and timeline abuse) to fit
it in. And the NRE hasn't a hope in hell of becoming
official-official, so any discussion of it in the Encyclopedia would
just hurt the Encyclopedia's chances of becoming official-official. And
they are only well-publicized among those on the list. Which doesn't
represent all of GZG-fandom. Just the fanatical ones who own computors
and are internet-savvy enough to find this.
> out. i don't suppose we could persuade you to write one or two more
Hey, we let the Romanovs take down an entire fleet, complete with Emperor!
Then they nuked 100K of our troops. Hrmm... I'll have to fiddle with it. The
timeline is a work in progress. First I came up with the themes, then placed
them on various planets. Then, for those I knew I had grabbed from other
powers, I had to fill in how and why and when. I added in the dates of the
Emperor's deaths and names of sucessors, and sort of stopped. So right now,
except for the Romanov War which is fairly complete, it's a cataloge of
victories. It looks
bigger 'coz of Noam's additions and our co-authored New Jordanian stuff.
