Even if you can't make it to ECC-X, here's your chance to participate:
write a card for the Con Queso game! Yes, you can earn the admiration
and/or loathing of the Con Queso players without even being there. Which
might be the most prudent way to do it....

I have enough cards, but I haven't printed them yet so I can always replace
some. You can email them to the List or, if you want to keep them secret, to
laserlight(at)verizon(dot)net. If I use your card, you'll get credit (unless
you plea for anonymity).

For those of you who haven't been paying attention, Con Queso is a
Design-Your-Own-Squad game. Less powerful squads (green infantry, a
leader 2, basic assault rifles) get special events cards to balance them
against the high-cheese-rating squads (elite fast powered armor with
leader 1, everyone armed with gauss rifles and flamers, and bristling with
support weapons). Those cards can be upgrades, movement, artillery support, or
anything else.

Sample cards:

"Reconstructive nannites" Use one action and reduce a cheese container by one
size to return one wounded trooper to full health

"Time Warp" Play at any time except immediately before or after your regular
turn. Take a free turn. "Put your hands on your hips..."

"Get to de choppah! Do it now!": If used on another player’s squad, they
retreat one combat move. If used on your own squad, they immediately retreat
two combat moves.

A squad of 8 Byzantine cavalrymen charge past your opponent, firing bows at
pointblank range. FP 1 Imp d8. They then ride off into the sunset.

One of your soldiers has procured (don't ask) a horse and a long blue
greatcoat. As he/she rides slowly toward the enemy, they become
convinced that Charles XII has once again come for vengeance, and drop one
morale level for the turn. If the enemy unit is ESU and of Russian extraction,
they drop two morale levels for the turn.

Player immediately drops out of the game and all their figures are removed.
The eventual "winner" is required to buy them a drink later that night. Player
may poll other players to see if they would like to drop out instead, but
player must buy them a drink later instead of the leader.

Best played by a middle of the pack player near the end of the game. At least
you get a drink out of it.

Sorry, Laserlight, I misread the following, and thought you'd prefer them
directly to you. You can repeat mine if you wish, but I figure they'd be
more fun sprung at ECC... ;->=

One ortillery strike lands immediately near the unit of your choice. ("Near"
may be interpreted creatively.)

Everything Stops For Tea

Suppress any single NAC unit in line of sight from one of your units.

(This also works on non-NAC units if you can name an appropriate
national beverage - wine for the FSE, vodka and rice wine for the ESU,
lager for the NSL, etc.)

They Look Like Us Now

One enemy unit, designated now, is in fact a group of Shiny Metal Warriors
(tm) working for you. Unfortunately one of your units is in fact a group of
Shiny Metal Warriors (tm) working for that enemy; he gets to choose which one.

Play on an opponent. Opponent must immediately reroll one die of your choice
until it comes up a '1'. Alternatively, instruct your opponent which die they
need to change, have them rotate the die until the '1' is showing, and place
it back on the table.

Activate Teske Field!

You may immediately reroll one die of your choice until it comes up the value
you want or need. Alternatively, just pick the die up, rotate it to
the value you want/need, and place it down on the table. That die is
considered to have been rolled and the resultant number valid for game play.

Cheesemogrify: Turn one of your squad into a cheese unit (roll for size and
flavor)

Cheeseclone: Convert a cheese unit in your possession to a cheeseclone of one
of your squad. If the cheeseclone dies, you lose the cheese unit. If it lives
to the end of the game, it counts as a cheese unit and a squad member.

Cheesebomb: Designated cheese unit explodes. No damage (except for loss of
cheese unit). Carrying squad (or squad within 2") is covered
by cheese. Movement and camouflage reduced in non-cheese area.

Wolf in sheep's clothing: Designated sheep explodes. As small claymore.

Sheep in wolf's clothing: Point at attacking unit and say "Baaaaaaa" loud
enough to disrupt the play of a nearby game. Nullify any one attack.

Any play who accidentally or deliberately hits the sheep may have this card
played on them. They are followed by noisy protesters who reduce all movement
by 3" or one dice type. The protesters cannot be shot in LOS of the news crew
(snipers may engage the protesters as long as they have not been revealed) or
that player will be penalized by the referee (appropriate penalty will be up
to the referee). Also, if another player shoots the sheep within LOS of the
protesters, they will immediately go pester that player's forces.

I don't know that there will be any news crews there. The sheep may already
have eaten them.

The psychological injuries have healed (she wasn't in FMA Sheep, just the
Cheese Game), leaving scars. But she's got four kids (<grin> of *course* I'm
counting Derek), so she should be used to that by now.

Plenty of people have gotten through CcQ games with no trauma. If anyone has
gotten through a FMAS game without psychological damage, then I've
failed my objective. :-)

G'day,

Combining a few responses here.

> She was in Carnage con Queso. You're thinking about FMA Sheep.

Given I still ended up having killer sheep land on me (well on my Nuns), I
certainly don't think so;)

> The psychological injuries have healed (she wasn't in FMA Sheep,

I'm not that silly!

> just the Cheese Game), leaving scars. But she's got four kids

That should read 3 kids and one teenager (Derek at 40 has returned to
childhood while Lachy has entered the alien phase of life). So if I didn't
have scars I'm about to acquire them...

> So on the surface she may *appear* well I'm willing to bet that

My grad students would say that has well and trully happened already... The
trauma of being reminded by the Killer Sheep movie didn't help either;)

Cheers
