Subject: [GZG] DS3 timescale
I'm with Laserlight on this one. At the pace of modern armour engagements, 2-3 minutes per turn would seem more sensible to me. In a travelling mode, vehicles could still move 1000m+ in a single minute (depending on the vehicle and terrain). You'd think some grav tanks could actually move more on the order of 3000m+ in a minute if driving quickly. That'd be 30mu in a minute. Now, most times this is not the case, but that's sort of 'travel mode' speeds. The other nice thing about contemplating a 2 minute turn is this: 5-7 turns would fit with one notional FT turn but at 2 minutes a turn, you'd be fairly close to a stargrunt time scale. So you could do 1:1 crossover games. If the average life expectancy of a tank in conflict with other armoured vehicles of similar capability is on the order of a couple or four minutes, that should still at least be several game turns, methinks. For feel, if nothing else. TomB
