There's a good pictorial example.
And BTW, if I haven't said it lately, TMP is an impressive site.

Mark that last photo well my friends. Look how light the last drybrush pass
was, almost white. If you're doing military equipment (and not heavily

paint on the brush.

Although the content is good the presentation is dreadful - it's stuck
in a 1980s web site, opportunity missed.

I really don't have a problem with that - it may not be flashy and
state-of-the-art with all the bells and whistles, but it does what it
needs to do, simply and functionally. YMMV of course! ;-)
Way to start one of those holy wars... ;->=
Remember the number of curmudgeons on the list; some of us despise 'modren'

No it exists, so it can't be a 1980s website...... (The web was just a
proposal in 1990)
And the TMP is much better than your average 1980s BBS.

Um, they didn't have websites in the 1980s. I know, I was there. :-)
If you have specific suggestions for improvement, please email them to
me...

to,
TMP is just fine, thanks. The KISS principal seems to be working just fone for
it.

While I find the site design... clunky, it does the job. The only real
deficiency I've found is that the forums need a subscription service
so that you can receive an e-mail when someone replies to one of your
posts.
My only suggestion is to update the miniatures directory -- which
appears to have been in a 10 year overhaul. The ability to see all the
lines in a given genre/scale is very powerful. I don't doubt that this
is in progress already. It would also be nice to be able, when you get to a
manufacturer's listing, to view all the news listed for that manufacturer.
I've enjoyed TMP for years, even when I wasn't actively
collecting/playing. I'm a daily visitor.

I'll throw in something. It'd be nice if it had user supplied pictures in the
forums.
I know it opens a can of worms with regards to appropriate content (and
spamming), so I can see why you avoid it. But still, it would be awesome if
you could get something that works. Especially since miniatures have such a
visual element, it'd be nice one of the largest (if not the largest) forum
dedicated to them could display them in places other than the news section.

My original dream was too ambitious - I'll probably change this to a
wiki-like format in the future.

Just click on the "View News" button (left column). :-)
LOL thanks! I've wanted that feature for years and it's been under my nose the
whole time.
And happy birthday!

, web wasn't around in 1980 - I should have known that, I mean't 1990s.
I also don't have problem with KISS - but just general usability. For
example some TMP features are not discoverable. I would advocate simple
consistent navigation, sensible & consistent fonts, plain backgrounds.
As Bill says, moving to a wiki format would probably be a good idea, but he
has a huge amount of great content so its a HUGE job.
I'm moving to use Google sites for an update of the old FT Computer Core which
has few bells and whistles and relies on simple presentation and costs nothing
in hosting, it will also allow online collaboration, it should be good.
