Roger:

If you get a good mould and cast anything nice looking in the way of a
circular iris valve, I might want to try to convince you to part with some....
;)

(Or, Jon T., if you are listening, if you feel like bashing up a nice circular
iris valve closed and open, I might be convinced to part with some $$$)

And as someone pointed out, I was talking about Dwarven Forge. Fantasy Forge
is another
bunch of guys. I didn't realize they only had one iris in their sci-fi
line. I've *seen*
some really nice sci fi corridors that I *know* had sci-fi doors (now
that I meditate on it, no round iris valves). But I forget who made them, but
I'm almost sure it was someone british, maybe Ainsty.

I think I had a nice oversized iris door, but it was actually an iris
for an optics/photography lab.

towards rings and decals. Otherwise you have to cut a hole in the wall. This
way you glue it in. paint, and apply th decal.

I was going to suggest a frame to lean against the wall, obviating the 'whole
hole' thing, with the iris in the center.

Also, a way to build an iris with 3-d detail is to overlay circular cuts

in thin plastic stock, or even paper, so that each cut piece has a convex and
a concave side, and glue them in the iris pattern. Put on that a circular hole
in square frame or whatever, and voila. Instead of drop through, I'd probably
just suggest matching open and closed frames to swap out.

If he were doing 6mm, a small paper punch for the iris piecs, and a large
paper punch for the frame hole, would do the trick.

However, I think he's satisfied with the direction he's going. ;->=

easy. You couldn't leave it alone. You just had to point out the flaw in my
plan.:)

Excellent idea. I'll give it a try.
