Hi All,

CelestiCon/Ground Zero Games West Coast 2010 is over and it was a
success. This was our second year and we saw some growth in spite of the
economy. We had 33 attendees and 18 official events.

Pictures and news of the convention are up at
http://www.celesticon.com

Thanks to Jon Tuffley for providing prize support!

We only had one GZG event this year (due to a lot of GZG gamers getting
married this month). But we did recruit 4 new Stargrunt players and 1 new Full
Thrust player! These were guys who had never played a GZG game before.

Thanks, Kris!

I am curious if you 'only had one' event, but recruited Stargrunt and Full
Thrust players. Did the single event have both systems? Oh, wait, check out
the web site before asking. Yeah, that might work...

Well, belated congrats to the newlyweds. I think...

I'm totally in the 'once burned, forever shy' camp. ;->=

I interepreted it to mean 1 "GZG prize event", 18 events total.

Too bad not any more GZG games played there. Maybe next year there'll be a
few more. :-)

last year, but next year there will be more, Just it was a bad year for me
gaming wise.

I have been working on a FMAish conversion of the clasic GDW game asteroid,
complete with 3d base.

But it was a good con lots of space games being played by one and all.

I was mostly speaking in jest; I think you should be able to hook someone in
conversation on Full Thrust in less than five minutes if they're really
interested in a simple, quick yet compelling space ship game. Half the people
who say 'we really must play that' when I trot out figs and finally
rope an occasional regular ;->= into a game are folks I've only
described it to.

They drive me nuts, and, yes, it IS a short trip...

And, of course, it's several free downloads away. ;->=

Doug,

Can getting in your car, pronouncing a journey initiated, starting the car,
turning off the car, and pronouncing the journey complete really be considered
(with any formality) a trip, even a short one? <*grin*>

Mind you, I've often been told that I'm a smart *rse and that I'm not fully
equipped, but that the powers that be have endowed me with an *rse.
<*chuckle*>

I'm sad I can't make these conventions out West. I wished several times over
to have been able to attend ECC WCC.

I am, of course, looking forward intently to the next ECC in Owego in 2011. I
think everyone should be inscribing it in unobtainium alloy in their calendar
for the ealry part of next year.

Hi Doug and All,

We only had Glenn Goffin's Stargrunt event. But the Tactics-0 club can
talk up any of the games we like to play.;)

We've been playing ground combat games this year. It's time to get back into
space and we'll be playing Full Thrust again next year.

Thanks Mark,

Hmm. I'm not sure you want to imagine the context of *all* those
quotes... :-D

Yes, I was rather sad we didn't get more GZG events this year. (Next year I'm
going to run a Full Thrust game no matter what.) Regardless
though, I will have a GZG-WCC in the convention and offer the space for
GZG fans to meet as long as Jon says I can (and I'm not too old to push
miniatures).

I went to last year's but not this year's. Getting married and then getting
laid off at work had something to do with it, but that there were no Full
Thrust games on the schedule had a lot to do with it even
before the layoff. I don't even play Stargrunt or Warhammer. :/
