Some time ago, my original FT started having problems with the cover splitting
right through the staples. A simple bit of clear packing tape down the length
of the book and folded front and back has been good for years.

I have the same problem with my SG2 book, and there are a couple of pages in
the middle that are loose. Mind you, this is with heavy usage. I also have a
copy in near mint condition which I bought when the first copy started to fall
apart and I wanted a second set of counters, anyway.
