G'day,

I'd be interested in hearing of any scenario set-ups or match-ups that
have
lead to a light-hearted or exciting or unexpected twist to a game.
That's what I was kinda after with my "envoy" scenario. Any more out there,
FT, DS,
SG, FMA???

Have fun

Well, I liked *your* scenario, and plan to steal it at some point. And I've
already posted about the scenario I plan to run involving the alien animals
and the Rifletrees. I've got another idea involving a crowded
shopping mall and a genetically enhanced super-monkey, but that one is
still in the planning stages....

I tend to base a lot of 25mm/28mm scale scenarios around two characters:
Professor Von Plütdevice and his adorable little daughter Karla. Both of them
have an irritating tendency to wander off alone into dangerous
territory; the Professor because he's an absent-minded super-genius, and
Karla because she's an obnoxious brat.

Scenarios have involved teams of various and sundry agents (hillbillies, Grey
Aliens, Marines, a S.W.A.T. team) sent to recover the Professor from a
town full of zombies -- the product of one of the Professor's
experiments
in tissue regeneration -- and my orignal FMA playtest scenario, which
had four teams chasing a giggling Karla around the board. Woe betide the folks
who actually caught her; the kid bites. And kicks...with remarkable, and
unfortunate, aim.

The figure that I use for Karla is actually a RAFM modern vampire, although
she just looks like a 6 year old girl with a teddy bear. I've also used this
same miniature in an Alien game, in which I stole the "blip" concept from
Space Hulk. Motion trackers told the players that *something* was coming
towards them, but they didn't know what until they had LOS. Usually it was an
Alien, but once it was a cat (which they promptly shot) and once it was
Karla...who they let live.

Until the Chestburster popped out of her.

Generally, I prefer scenarios with a humorous edge to them; I can't take my
gaming all that seriously. Not with *my* dice rolls, at least. Hence my
fondness for the late, lamented ShockForce.... I intend to get some more
Copplestone and Foundry modern/near-future figures painted up, and start
running some X-Files style games in the near future. Probably more
tabloid
news than X-Files, really...but the principle is the same!

I've got some nice Greys painted up, and some Serpent Men/Reptoids, but
I need to paint up a few Sasquatches (Sasquatchi?), and I *really* need to
find me some Chupacabra miniatures. Anyone know of a good source for some?

But most importantly, I have Elvis. With a gun.

The first time I ran my "Operation: Hatsukaze" scenario for SG2 (the details
for setting it up are on my web site), I had something happen that was pretty
funny. The scenario involves Japanese Corporate Mercs being airlifted after a
raid. NSL panzergrenadiers attack them on the way out.

As the VTOL transports land, a VTOL gunship arrives as support. However, the
NSL have a LSKPzW VII GEV Anti-Air Missile Launcher. The gunship swept
around a hill and engaged the missile launcher. It missed. The missile
launcher GEV fired at the gunship. The gunship is shot down, forcing it to
crash land. The deviation roll is made for where the gunship lands... and it
lands right on top of the missile launcher GEV! It was quite amusing!

By coincidence, it also showed that the scenario works without the gunship and
without the GEV missile launcher system...

This sounds like it has lots of potential with the right folks!;)

I have a feeling I've seen them on my wishlist travels, I'll see what I can
dig up over the weekend (assuming I remember... stop sniggering Aaron I'll
remember that stuff for you some time this millenium!)

Which is very funny!

Thanks
