All,

I realize that the GZG figures are undersized compared to more modern figures.
Are they undersized enough to fit in well with HO scale terrain?

Not in my eyes, HO scale is around about 18mm in wargaming figure terms so
quite a bit smaller than 25mm.

Steve,

That's interesting. So would HO scale buildings fit in with the 15mm figures
from GZG? I know that a lot of manufacturers have sculpted oversized 15mm
figures but I'm not sure where GZG's figures are in comparison.

HO scale is about 1/87th -- 15mm is around 1/100th so the HO scale
buildings will be a bit large. I've known people to mix HO and 20mm figures
and it looks a bit off though depending on the scale[1] of the game it may
work.

You may want to look at O scale buildings to go with your 25mm figs. I just
set a few figures (a GW 28mm, Foundry 28mm, and an Old Glory 25mm) up against
a "factory" building I have and they seem close
enough to work. Buy one in kit form (12$-20$ each) and try it out.

There are quite a few O scale buildings out there but they're
typically suburban / 50's style affairs. When building a post-
apocalypse type table they'd probably work peachy if you aged them up. The
Plasticville apartment building can be scified up easily enough.

[1] Scale being say one stand equals a squad and one building on the
table represents 5 or so buildings...your mileage may vary.

Damo,

The problem is, I've recently come into possession of a *lot* of assembled and
painted HO scale buildings. So I'm not as much looking for terrain as I am for
figures to go with the terrain that I already have. Everything is in
a modern/dirty/industrial style and would be perfect for near-future
gaming if I can find the right scale of figures.

Well you may be able to get away with using 15mm figures with your HO
scale stuff -- it's a matter of preference. In the past, during my
horrid 20mm days, I did play with some HO scale terrain but then again I'll
also mix 25mm and 28mm figures on the table. Some folks are purists in this
regard.

Haven't you taken home some 15mm GZG stuff from past ECCs?

Unfortunately, no. And to top it off, the only 25mm GZG figures I have are
non-humans so I'm not sure if a normal human trooper fits in with the
buildings either.

Oh well. I have lots of other projects to get to anyway. I suspect this
terrain may sit in the boxes for a while until I figure out what to do with
it.

I just based up some 1/87 civilians (for Zombie/Riot/Innocent Bystander
scenarios). Due to the material (plastic) they have much less heft than the
15s I plan to use them with. The 15s are nearly a head taller and much
"beefier". For Vehicles ROCO works well too.
