I am Lieutenant Commander McHara of HMS Implausible, NAC 6th Fleet. As you may
know, we have recently been involved in pirate suppression duties. While
interrogating two captured pirates, they told us of an asteroid base where we
recovered several missiles, lasers and other weapons, including some boxes one
of which was filled with NAC Pounds to the value of five million (5,000,000).
I am in keen need of a reliable and trustworthy person like yourself...

http://mail.csua.berkeley.edu:8080/mailman/listinfo/gzg-lGood afternoon
mister gzg-1.
I am an important ambassador from the Pan African Union, currently held
captive on L'Dopa IV in Fedrerat Europa space. My government of course has the
funds to pay my ransom, but the funds are tied up in a Nigerian bank currently
in possession by Ugandan revolutionaries. As such I am unable to process a
withdrawal from this account, as the rebels would easily track me.
Therefore, my government is unable to help as I cannot make the payment in my
name. However, if you could provide me with your name, account number and
routing number, I can authorize transfer of C5,000,000 Confederate Credits to
your account and use this information to process payment of my ransom. I would
also need you to authorize payment of C5,000 to my constituents to process the
ransom payment.
Now, here is why you should help me. My ransom is a mere C3,000,000 in
Confederate scrip. If you allow me to make this payment via your account, the
remaining C2,000,000 will be left to you as payment for helping me and our
government.
Please reply as soon as possible, as time is short.
Yours thankfully,

from Korea and China than Nigeria.

a 419. The country name (and in some cases, the tone) has varied a lot since
the 1920's, when the scam began as a Spanish prisoner spiel.
An ESU variation would work, though.

Independent Bank - Fraud Department
From: Allan Goodall
Dear sir or madam.
Yesterday I received an email from a business purporting to be a purveyor of
metal miniatures. The company's name is ArmorGroup International, which I
assumed was a legitimate miniature gaming establishment in Britain. In my
excitement, I sent them an order for 1 of "Item #1800 - 15mm Dropship
Based Marine Force, free shipping" and paid for it with my debit card.
I received an invoice from them in French soon after the order. From what I
could read, based on my high school French, the company operated out of
Burkina Faso, Africa. I was somewhat worried, but I found that they had a 100%
rating on eBay and decided to take a chance.
There was apparently some misunderstanding with my order, for this morning I
discovered that I am now overdrawn on my account by $150 million.
Furthermore, if you watched the news this morning, you will see that a
contingent of 1,800 mercenary troops with amphibious tanks and APCs parachuted
into the African nation of Burkina Faso.
Based on the phone calls I have been receiving this morning, I have apparently
been declared "President for Life", and I have been asked for "further
orders". What's more, I had to buy a new cell phone as my regular phone has
been completely locked up with calls from the media, the United Nations, and
the U.S. State Department.
As it appears that I will not be receiving what I ordered, I would appreciate
it if you could please reverse this transaction, along with any overdraft
penalties incurred.
The contact information for this company lists a "Col. (ret) A. Hammer" with
no fixed address, but with a mobile phone number. Please find the contact
information, and copy of the invoice, attached.
You can contact me at my new number, 318-555-7734, if you require
further information. Note that I may be hard to get hold of, as I may soon
have to relocate.
You should all stop immediately. Between the TMP poll entries for 'Best Post'
and these, I have run completely out of spare nappies.

I don't know what I did but the Spam Gods(tm) have decided that I'm off the
419 spam list.
Then the new spam started. Blueberry plants. Rasberry plants. And then?
Banana plants.
Did I mention I live in Colorado? ;-)
