Currently some people here at the club are working on a 15mm WWII north africa
demo.
This got me thinking. The AMT AT-AT is also in 1:100 scale, so with
some kitbashing and a german paint job we could get a long way to 'Rommel
reenacts the assault on Hoth'. This way we can reuse a lot of the stuff
currently being made.
It's been some time since I saw the movie, but weren't there AT-ST's
on Hoth as well? There aren't any kits in this scale, so are there any
alternatives out there in a similar style (in 15mm, 1:100) that would be
suitable?
Might some of the Gear Kreig work?
These are all 15mm

Yes, plenty of AT-ST's dodging the big boy's legs; I haven't looked at
the AMT kit, but the old Micro Machines' Action Fleet chicken walker might be
close, though a bit large. There was an Evil Empire(tm) IG Sentinal that
was damn close, but a bit shorter, that might be bash-able into what you
need.

Really? I thought they were 10mm...

Hmmm... Gear Krieg might have some usable models. I also ran into Kryomek, and
there might be some usable models in that range as well.
All 15mm, including the zombie troopers.

According to starwarsmodels.com:
The AT-AT in 1:100 is 8"(20cm) high.
The AT-ST in 1:54 is 6.25" high. This would be 3.4"(8.5cm)in 1:100.
So, anything between 7cm and 10cmm would be ok I suppose.
I'l try to remember to dig in the basement later and take some measurements.
The Action Fleet cw is smaller than the model, but I don't think it's half the
size.

I looked at their US site, which says the pics are actual size. The IG steel
legion sentinel comes close in style, but is just a bit too short. With some
work this might be my best bet. Will need to look
hard at the At-ST article on starship modeler though.
How tall should the 15mm AT-ST be? I have a mini-lego of an AT-ST.

Here's one item that's vaguely AT-ST-ish. Paint it grey and you're kind
of getting there. It works fairly well with 15mm, too.
http://www.wizkidsgames.com/mechwarrior/figuregallery.asp?unitid=4053
Not a perfect match, but could work as a proxy.
That's only about 2", right? I think the object needed is closer to twice
that.
I'd thought of suggesting Wizkids' Mechwarrior and original BT mechs, but
dismissed both at too small. I think some of them smaller BT toys that came
out might be closer in size, but nothing in the right shape.

See my other email. About 8.5cm. This is relative to the existing kit. I
should check the 'official' sources to get the real heigth of the thing.

Yup, the closest in style is that sentinel mentioned earlier. However,
none of the walkers I saw have the spidly legs the AT-ST has. I am
even considering (shudder) whether it might be best to attempt scratch
building them. We recently bought some resin casting stuff here at the club,
so this might be a good project for trying to replicate parts.
Lego has an AT-RT "Clone Scout Walker"
http://www.lego.com/starwars/products/episode3.asp?productid=7250
Since it's Lego, you might be able to modify it to an AT-ST.
Then again, it might be too expensive.

There's is a Star Wars Titanium Series AT-RT but good luck finding one
in the stores. No-one around here has been stocking Titanium Series
very well.
Here's a hopefully working link to a picture...

When I was doing Heavy Gear (old large scale)I've converted several of these
as HEV Walker (54X Sagitiarius class) Using modified (KRYOMEK)
Valkyrie. http://www.kremlinminiatures.co.uk/cdc.htm
All I had to do to covert there to 15mm was change hatches and add a missile
rack. The KRYOMEK line IMO runs a bit small for 25mm so visually it was an
easy conversion.
The Galoob AT-ST is about 1:100 (actually it is closer
to 18 or 19mm) and would work.
I have 3 sitting in my basement still in the box (with the skimmer car) but
they are very hard to find.

I found a picture of this one on ebay, but to be honest, it doesn't look
great.
Anybody have any idea what scale this one is:
http://actionfiguresbygofigure.com/product129.html
I saw it on ebay and it looks pretty decent. Only the price isn't:-)

Big. It's designed to go with action figures. I had the origional version of
this as a kid and this one is effectively the same plastic mouldings just with
a much better paint job. IIRC it's a bit over a foot tall. Way too big for
15mm or even 28mm.

Scratch another one then:-)
Hmm, I suspect my best bet is to just get the ertl kit, which is 1:54 scale,
and just try to manufacture parts in half that scale.
Although the proportions are a little funny, there's the windup AT-ST.

It says it is 4.5" high. I can't find the one we had--I like the other

Ok can't remember who asked about AT-ST's or if this one got mentioned
but yesterday I bought from a Pound Stretcher store (in the UK) a mini LEGO
AT-ST only cost me £2
Anyway here is a picture next to a GZG 15 and 25mm figure for scale.

I have got an ertl atst in 1/50 coming and will try to use that one as
a prototype for making a 1/100 one.
