Subject: [gunslinger] Turn 13 final results & Assessment

It's finally over. Trial by Combat succumbs to sustained beam fire at point
blank, exploding into a debris cloud. The debris fails to cause damage to
Sovremenny, which successfully dampens the run-away reactor on turn 15.

Assessment:
The massed class-2 beam batteries vs class-4 batteries proves the
benefits of range over damage. 'Trial by Combat' scored 32 points from Pulse
Torpedoes & 43 points from beam batteries. Yet 'Sovremenny' scored 68 points
from beam batteries alone, 18 points of which was without reply from TbC.
TbC's superior maneuverability played a major role in the middle stages,
managing to keep 'Sovremenny' from bringing it's forward batteries to bear,
while maintaining pulse torpedo fire itself. Another interesting note, once
both ships started losing weaponry, it was actually easier for 'Sovremenny' to
recover a greater percentage of it's weaponry each turn due to the larger
mounts. As soon as 'TbC' lost weapons, there were insufficient DCPs to bring
them back on line before destruction. Instead, the Pulse Torps were repaired
as the fastest way to recover offensive capability.
