OKAY, CANUCK, exactly wot is a gun crazed cowby? and how does this apply to hunting? what about the gun crazed chollos and homies of the big YANKEE and Southron cities? somehow i think you would be safer in a small rural town in the south where folks are more familiar with firearms than in a large city where chollos and homies shoot crap out of each other (and anyone else nearby) over "turf","colors", "bidness", "hoes" "jackin" and etc. i have done the bluesuit thang, and i saw more crap involving idiots, booze, drugs, firearms, violence, and sex in the sophisticted big city than i ever have living in a rural area or hunting. ( i will not even attempt to catalog all of the other violent or illegal acts committed upon one human by another so-called human. like the RVN, most folks do not believe or really want to know) now i own firearms, i used to ride a horse, i used to hunt, backpack, and etc for fun, when i was not hunting some dickhead in the big city or the jungle, and i am a Texan born and bred. i live in a rural area of the south. i still target shoot. soooo, this makes me a gun crazed cowboy? how abouot that. learn something new every day....

The "gun crazed cowboy" comment was in regard to a guy who walked past me with a loaded rifle -- as I stood outside my apartment in a small subdivision -- to go fire it off nearby to see how it worked. In other words, he was handling the weapon irresponsibly in an area that is clearly _not_ appropriate for firing off his weapon. City ordinance prohibits it. A few minutes later, we heard the gunshots. There are woods nearby, which is probably where he was. There are also kids nearby who play in those woods. So, yeah, this guy was a "gun crazed cowboy", not because he had a gun or even more than one, but because he handled it irresponsibly. There was no offense, here, DAWG, intended for guys with lots of guns. I'll admit, now that I'm down here, I'm looking forward to one day having a gun of my own (in this case a black powder weapon that I finish and assemble myself). The comment wasn't a blanket generalization. It was a comment on the intelligence of one guy who should really know better.

Best way to handle people like that is to suggest they point it at a large bear. on 02.6.21 9:26 AM, Allan Goodall at agoodall@att.net scribbleth: > The "gun crazed cowboy" comment was in regard to a guy who walked past

He misunderstood my comment about a guy walking through a subdivision with a loaded rifle as meaning that I thought anyone with multiple guns to be a "gun crazed cowboy". Of course, I don't think I fully explained in my message that 1) I was in a subdivision, 2) the guy was walking with a loaded firearm with a kid (13, 14 years old) in tow, 3) he fired off the gun within city limits in a nearby woods, 4) it was early evening (i.e. kids were out).

That's the whole point. It's a little hard on the bear, but after the dust settles you generally end up with a bear who has a small hole in him and one less stupid punk. Not to mention what that teaches the bear to do. On the plus side, since punks tend to run in packs, you're more likely to get more bang for your buck. (no pun... Ok, every pun intended)
