Perhaps I missed this conversation in the archives, but am I right in that the
Grazer seems to have a sizing issue...?
I know that the 'Mass'ing forumla for beam weapons is simple, 2xMass of next
smaller Class....
But the Grazer seems to only partiall follow this....? The rules for anything
over Class three say Mass of next smallest class x 3 But the first three
classes don't follow that forumla? Class 1 = Mass 2
Class 2 = Mass 9 (2xNext Smallest + 3?)
Class 3 = Mass 24 (2xNext Smallest -3?)
Am I right in this observation? Was something updated for the first three to
be more inline and I just missed it?

Yeah, there's a jump there from size 2 to size 3, it goes Sheep, Cow,
Elephant. Oh, you mean Graser.
The Graser (Gamma-Ray Laser) is the primary heavy armament of the
UNSC's large ships. Weapon Mass
Class 1 (1-arc): MASS 2
Class 1 (3-arc): MASS 3
Class 1 (6-arc): MASS 4
Class 2 (1-arc): MASS 9, +3 per extra arc
Class 3 (1-arc): MASS 24, +6 per extra arc
For larger classes the mass is 3xMASS of the next smaller class. Cost = Mass x
4. Playtest UN weapons and rules are at

Incorrect; only beams of Class 4 and larger use this formula.
The reason beam classes 1, 2 and 3 *appear* to use the same formula is that
you're comparing weapons with different numbers of fire arcs. Try comparing
the Mass values of *6-arc* Class-1, -2 and -3 batteries and judge for
yourself how well they conform to this "2xMass of next smaller" formula.

The *GRASERS* don't follow the *BEAM* formula at all, since their range bands
are different (18mu instead of 12mu). They have their own formula for size
classes 4 and larger, just like the beam formula only applies for *beams* of
class 4 and larger.
Regards,
Ahhh..... and there you have it... Thanks Oerjan
